THE BLOODY WEDDING
years ago

"Here comes the bride... three months inside..." I glance sideways to see the vibrant waitress with the perky attitude. Sally. She was singing along with the pianist inside the church. We are out here at the front of the chapel all lined up for the entourage. 

I want to ignore all her humming and singing, but I couldn't stand the fact that she's changing the lyrics of that famous bridal chorus.

"I think what you meant was 'dressed in white', those are the right words." I corrected her. It's not actually good if someone is to hear that punchline. Sally rolled her eyes up at me and carried on humming.

"Three months nang buntis si Merielle kaya. So bagay lang 'yun, funny kaya!"

"Speculations will get you nowhere."

"Hindi ako nangchi-chismis." Another glare from her told me she didn't like being around with me. Hindi ko rin naman gustong maging kahelera ko siya sa pila. I just want this wedding ceremony to end so I could have a nice warm meal afterwards.

"If you say so."

"Hay nako!" Nilingon ko ulit siya nang mapansin kong nangangamot siya ng ulo. "Ginugulo na namang ng mga masasamang elemento ang good vibes ko. Ang ganda na ng aura ko eh!" 

I stared down at her for a moment. Her skin color is radiating with the light green gown she's wearing and it's nice to see her in a light make-up. But she's damn more attractive when her cheeks are flushed naturally while in that pink uniform...

Enough about the stupid fantasies, Miller.

"Hoy, Sally! Ang ingay mo!" I heard someone shouted from the back of the line. I'm guessing it's one of her noisy friends. Mas lalong kinainis ng katabi ko ang sinabi ng kaibigan niya sa likod.
