Somehow, some way- Hallie and I managed to get a little bit of sleep after the night we had. We had plans to go to the police first thing in the morning.
I noticed something that was interesting. Hallie managed to go to sleep before me.
We woke up early, at 6 am. Sure, Hallie didn't fall asleep until 2:30. But that was much earlier than her usual sleep schedule.
And I was always the first to sleep- not her.
I drove Hallie and I to the police station- but not before stopping for coffee for us first in a Starbucks drive thru.
We were both very much on edge, but I said to her, with a smile, "You fell asleep before me. I'm not used to that."
"Oh. Yeah." Hallie gave me a smile back, "I was exhausted. And...sometimes being around you makes me sleepy. In a good way."
I think that means she is comfortable with me.
"That makes me happy, despite everything going on." I said to Hallie, giving her knee a small squeeze.
Hallie looked at me and said, "You seemed to be restless last night."
"I kept thinking I was going to wake up to something catastrophic going on with our...situation. But I haven't gotten any other emails." I said.
"I understand." Hallie nodded, "I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop."
"Let's hope it doesn't, thankfully we are almost at the police station." I said.
Hallie looked at me, worried. "What if they don't help us or take us seriously?"
"This is very serious. If they don't- I'll bring my brother into it, since he is a lawyer. While I really don't want him finding out about this- it may be necessary." I said, dreading the thought of telling Felix.
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." Hallie said.
When I parked at the police station, Hallie looked visibly nervous.
I gave her hand a squeeze. "It'll be okay. Let's do this. Together."
Hallie squeezed my hand back, and we walked up to the station.
A female cop greeted us.
"Hello ladies. How can I help you?" she said. Her name tag said "Officer Rodriguez".
"We have a...situation." I said, my heart pounding, "We need to speak to someone who can help us."
Officer Rodriguez, who looked like she was in her 30's, with mocha skin and dark hair, gave Hallie and I a once over. "Let's go speak in my office."
She seemed to understand this was serious.
She led us back into an office that had a desk and two chairs. She sat behind the desk, and instructed Hallie and I to sit across from her in the chairs.
"Ladies, first of all, what are your names?" Officer Rodriguez asked us.
"Alina Koval." I said.
"Hallie Anderson." Hallie said, her right leg shaking up and down.
"Tell me what's going on." Officer Rodriguez said.
I decided to speak, knowing Hallie most likely wouldn't want to.
I explained the situation. That Hallie and I made sexual videos and took sexual photos and posted them online, legally. And that I received an anonymous email threatening me.
I had brought my laptop for evidence, and handed it to Officer Rodriguez who looked at the email.
"I'm very, very sorry you're in this situation, ladies." she said, "I can help. But first, let me ask you. Do you know anyone who might want some kind of revenge on you in any way?"
