On October 1st- Hallie and I got married.

And it was truly the best day of my life.

October 1st was on a Friday. I took off work, and Hallie didn't have work.

Cora was already on maternity leave, and Felix took off work that day as well.

It was Cora's idea to put a fun spin on the wedding plans. We were going to the courthouse- but the night before, we kept up a little bit of tradition, with that fun spin.

Hallie and I had each gotten an outfit to wear that week, that we hadn't shown each other. Hallie got hers in person at the mall, I got mine online.

Hallie was going to sleep in the game room the night before we got married. She brought her makeup, the vanity mirror, and her outfit in the room, so she could get ready in the morning on her own.

I was going to sleep in the bedroom, and get ready that morning as well on my own.

As part of the plan Cora thought of- Felix was going to drive down to the courthouse with me. And Cora and Hallie were going to drive down together.

So Hallie and I wouldn't actually see each other until we got married.

When Cora suggested it, she made it clear there was no pressure to do it. However, Hallie and I loved the idea.

The night before the wedding, Hallie went off to the game room at 11:30 PM, holding a shoe box she filled with makeup.

"Is weird that I am going to miss you even though you're in the next room over?" she asked me.

"Maybe a little. But I'm just as weird because I feel the same." I said.

"Hey, if you want to send me a 'you up?' text at 3 AM...I won't deny it." she said, with a cheeky smile.

I laughed and said, "Save that for tomorrow night. I promise it'll be worth the wait."

There was a mischievous glint in Hallie's eyes as she said, "Oh, I'm sure it will be."

As the night went on, I was very tempted to go to the game room- however, I stuck with Cora's plan, and wound up having to take some melatonin to fall asleep.

It had the jitters. Not in a bad way, at all.

In the best way possible.

I had set an alarm for 9 AM the next morning. Hallie and I had set a time at courthouse for 11:30 to get married- and it took about an hour to get there. I figured that an hour and a half would be more than enough time to get ready.

I wasn't going to be wearing a dress. I decided on a pantsuit. It was cream colored, and came with tailored pants and a blazer. I had considered getting a dress- but when I looked at all of my options, the pantsuit was just calling me.

I sat in front of my mirror and decided to start on my hair first. I lightly curled it, so it laid softly above my chest- and then I went on to my makeup. I certainly cannot do the fun, eccentric looks that Hallie can pull off. But I put on some light pink glittery eyeshadow and false lashes, to add a bit of glamour to the day.

As I put on lipliner and lipstick, I thought back to my first wedding for a moment.

It was right after I graduated high school- and I had been kicked out of home. Jocelyn had driven us to the courthouse, I remember being in jeans and a plaid shirt that did not belong to me- it was Jocelyn's. The whole time as I was sitting in the passenger seat of her truck, I was on the verge of a panic attack.

Deep down- I knew I was making a terrible mistake.

I did not have even an ounce of that thought today though. I knew that I was making the best decision. I was sure of it.
