Chapter 10 : Dinner

Catras POV:

I woke up with a slight fright, not knowing where I was for a few seconds, until my Memory told me the ugly truth again. "Right...im at Adoras"

I look around and, for the first time, really look at Adoras room. Unsurprisingly clean with stacks of Sport Magazines on the Nightstand being the only thing not cleaned up perfectly. A red and White Color theme, fitting well with Adoras tastes, was in every corner, giving her room a more 'Adult' for lack of a better word, feeling. I take in the unique scent of Adora everywhere in the Room, throwing me into a whirlpool of different emotions. The mixture of Vanilla and Honey with a tiny bit of Hazelnut, was always something i loved about her and it had not changed at all over the years.

I rip myself from my thoughts "Holy shit.... how am i supposed to get over her when im like this? Maybe i can help her get a date?....not like i know a lot of guys tho... Ben seemed ...nice enough and definitely interested in Adora" i think, when i hear voices from downstairs. Adoras Home is a 2 floor simple House that has inside and out a lot of wood accents, making it look a lot more classy and refined then one would guess from its inhabitants.

I try to listen to the voices a bit, focusing my Hearing on the Sounds coming from the Door

".....i just really want to help her mom"

"But taking in a 15 year old runaway.... Adora things are not that easy. If this goes south i could be in some deep shit. They can spin this into Kidnapping a minor if they want to and what do i do then?"

"I ... i know that im asking a lot but" Adoras voice was cracking "I can't just leave her alone with this mom..... I have to try something"

"Why you, Adora? Why not call the Police?"

"Because that means Catra gets delivered right back to those scumbags or gets thrown back into the system and i can't let that happen."

"not a burden, my ass" i think to myself as i walk out of the Room and downstairs

Mara was on the couch and Adora paced the Room, noticing me she looks at me but looks at the floor the next second

"Im sorry" i start "i ...i am going to find a Hotel and just..."

"NO" Adora shouts, still not looking at me, her Fists balled at her side.

Mara stands up "Adora....can you give me a minute to talk to Catra?"

Adora didn't move, so i walk up to her and put my Hand on her shoulder "It's okay Ador..."

She throws her Arms around me and hugs me tight but says nothing. Adora soon lets go of me, looking like she just died inside and leaves the Room.

I sit down with Mara "i'm so sorry i put you in this situation" i say, trying to make sure she issn't to angry with Adora

"It's not your fault Catra. Your Parents really want you to marry someone at your age? or was Adora just trying to make it sound dramatic?"

I sigh and explain, once again from the beginning, what happened to me. I leave nothing out, starting from the day i was adopted and why that happened, how they treated me and what I overheard that day. She listens to all of it and doesn't interrupt me, only nodding when i check if she was listening.

"...and that's how i ended up here"

To my suprise, Mara hugs me "I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you" making me teary eyed "listen Catra, Adora has told me about your past and i want to help you..i'm just not sure how i can, without making myself a Criminal. You mean a lot to my Daughter, that much is clear.....i never seen her like this"
