"He may know who did this, that's all I wanna ask him. I just wanna see what he remembers."

"I said no, Richard."

I was drying Maverick off with a towel. Dick had stood outside the closed bathroom door trying to convince me to let him talk to Maverick. I didn't want him reliving that moment and I don't care if it'll help us. I know it'll help us, I'm fully aware of that, but he's not ready to face that.

I helped Maverick brush his teeth and I combed his hair. I helped him get dressed and I opened the bathroom door. Dick picked him up and Maverick happily clung to him. As cute as the moment was, I was still annoyed with Dick's proposition.

I know Dick would never do anything to hurt Maverick. I could tell he really loved him and would do anything for him. The idea of having a four year old relive the moment he watched his family get slaughtered just for facts is insane to me.

"So, what's the plan?" I heard Conner ask from behind Dick.

Dick turned around and looked at him, "I say we split the work. I'll have Kory help me comb through the evidence at the crime scene from the documents." He set Maverick down and the kid happily ran off, probably to find Jason or Gar. "You, Rachel, and Loreli will look through family history. All the arrests and all the missions with the Fischer family."

"What about Jason and Gar?" Conner asked.

"I'm gonna have them stay with Maverick. If he talks, I think he'll be more prone to doing it around those two." Dick explained, crossing his arms.

"Dick, I'm gonna punch you so hard tha-"

"-Auntie Eli! Auntie Eli!" Maverick called, running into the hallway.

"Great timing." I heard Dick mumble.

I shot him a glare and looked at Maverick. I gave him a small smile and crouched down to his level. "Yes Mav?"

"Can I fight with uncle Gar and uncle J?" Maverick asked, giving me the puppy eyes.

Jason then came around the corner and leaned against the wall. He's definitely built up more muscle since I last saw him, he's more lean. He looked good, a lot more relaxed even.

"We're using foam swords, don't worry." Jason piped up, putting his hands in his pockets.

I smiled at Maverick, "Sure buddy. Just make sure you kick major butt. Got it?"

Maverick cheered and ran off. Jason winked at me and walked off to follow him. I was happy that Maverick found an escape and got along well so far with the titans. I would much rather him not think about what happened and be with people who'll make him happy.

I stood back up and looked at Dick and Conner. Conner motioned for me to follow him. I glared and Dick and followed Conner to one of the study rooms. I sat down on one of the chairs and looked up at the ceiling. I knew what Dick meant with family history, it was more than just arrests and missions, it was everything.

It felt wrong having to dig through everything in my family history. I honestly preferred not to know what happened in the past because it's in the past. My parents were great people and I loved them with everything in me. Sure I didn't have the most normal childhood, but my parents tried to give me as close to normal as possible.

Now that I'm thinking about it, my childhood is a bit hazy. I don't remember much from before the age of 6 or 7. My first memory I can recall was being in my bedroom playing a board game with Dick and Charlotte, and then the board freezing because I got mad. That was really the first time I ever experienced my powers.
