I ran out of the batcave and ran into the living room. Maverick was sitting and playing with his stuffed tiger, Rosco, and a few toy cars. I almost cried knowing that he would have to be subjected to the horrors that was battle. I hated this, I hated it so much. He looked so content and happy playing. I didn't want to disturb him but I had to.

"Mav, you need to go down in the cave." I told him, grabbing his tiger and his toy cars. "You have to hide."

"But why?" Maverick asked, standing up. "I don't like it."

I knelt down to his height. "I know, buddy. I hate it so much, you have no idea. I wish it wasn't like this but I promise we'll fix it. But for right now, you need to head down to the cave." I stood up and nudged him.

He had tears pricking his eyes, I could see him wiping them away out of the corner of my eye. This wasn't fair to him. I never thought I would have to protect Maverick from his own flesh and blood. It sickened me.

I walked him down to the cave and helped him get situated in a safe room. Bruce made one special so that it would go completely undetected from any infiltration of the security systems. It was also custom made to where the door was hidden in the wall and could only be accessed by an authorized handprint. Of course Bruce being Bruce, it was also indestructable.

"When will you be back?" Maverick asked, grabbing my leg.

"Soon, I promise." I told him, leaning down and stroking his hair.

He sniffled and let go. I felt myself tear up as I took a long look at him. He looked pitiful and scared. It just made me angry. This had to end, I was done messing around. Levin has to be stopped, all of them have to be stopped. I have to do it for Maverick.

I walked out of the room and locked him inside. I sighed and took a deep breath. I made my way to the middle of the batcave, grabbing a tablet and pulling up the surveillance feed. Sure enough, Conner was right. There was a mob approaching the gate. It looked like it was going to be pretty bad.

"Barry, Garfield, Dick, and myself will stay down here and protect Maverick. The rest of you will take upstairs." Bruce said from behind me.

I shut off the tablet and set it down. "What about my mom?"

"She's hiding underground for right now." He replied. I heard him walk closer. "He's with them."

"Good." I mumbled, turning around. "He's mine."

I walked forward and brushed past Bruce. I didn't hear him say anything, nothing he could say can change my mind. I'm killing Levin no matter what, even if it kills me. Seeing Maverick so heartbroken again was my final straw.

I made my way to the living room and up the stairs. I went into my bedroom and opened the window. I looked outside and saw the building was surrounded. I didn't see Charlotte, Owen, Talia, or Levin. I heard the windows downstairs crash open and yelling start to pour in. I rushed out and made my way down the stairs.

Kory and Rachel were already in full defense mode. I didn't see Jason, Conner, or Damian which worried me a little bit. I felt my hand grow cold and I started blasting ice at the mob pouring in. The people all looked sickly, some still in their work clothes. However, they were all freakishly strong.

One ran right at me and through my ice, picked me up and threw me on the floor. I yelped in pain as I made contact but rolled away in time before her foot could stop on my stomach. I pounced back up and kicked her into the stairs. She got back up and punched me in the nose. I could feel the blood come right out.

Before I could react, I heard a gun go off. The woman's body dropped right to the floor. I looked up and saw a man dressed in red and black, a metallic red mask on his face. He glanced at me and ran the other way. It was strange but I appreciated it.
