"What the-"
"-Shh! You'll wake Todd."
I blinked a couple of times before looking at the digital clock next to the bed. 2:30 in the morning and I'm being rudely hounded to wake up. It's been about 3 days since Jason has woken up out of his coma. We've all been taking it easy, especially him. I think it really scared him.
He hasn't really gotten up out of bed much but he does physical therpy type stuff in bed. Bruce insisted on him doing this to help get his strength back slowly without putting too much strain on him. Luckily, Clark did whatever Clark does and was able to use his lazer eyes to fix some extremely bad tears in Jason's heart. Thank god for Superman.
I was slowly feeling better after the whole ordeal with trying to care for Jason and Damian. Rachel slowly took over caring for Damian, as much as he protested. However, I could tell that he was growing attached to her in his own way. At least he didn't slap her hand the last few times she tried to check the wounds from the machine he was hooked up to. Baby steps on his part.
"Damian?" I hissed, rubbing my eyes. "What the hell?"
"No time to explain. You need to get up and follow me into the living room." Damian replied, tugging my arm.
"At 2:30 in the morning?" I whispered, annoyance coating my voice.
"Yes." He replied, pulling my covers off.
I huffed and slowly sat up. I ran a hand through my hair and got out of bed. I was careful not to wake Jason, he needed all the rest he could get. I grabbed his hoodie off the chair next to the bed and slipped it on. I pushed past Damian and out the door to the steps.
"This better be worth it." I grumbled, walking down the stairs.
I heard Damian follow me. I walked into the living room and saw Rachel sitting there, her eyes glued to the TV. I rounding the couch and stood behind it, crossing my arms. I blinked a few times, rubbing my eyes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
"Told you." Damian stated, crossing his arms.
"How did...I don't understand..." I mumbled, moving around the couch and sitting next to Rachel, my eyes not leaving the TV.
"They ambushed police headquarters about an hour ago. We were waiting to wake you until we knew for sure it was them." Rachel explained.
"Why the hell would the League of Assassins take over police headquarters?" I thought aloud. "I thought for sure Owen and Charlotte would be dead."
"Power and control. They'll start small and work their way out." Damian replied. "We thought they would be dead as well."
"We've seen glimpses of Talia, Owen, Charlotte, and Levin. I think they've come to overtake the city, starting with the law." Rachel explained, leaning back so her back was resting on the back of the couch. "Bruce, Clark, and Conner went out to see how bad it was."
"But not do anything to stop it?" I asked, my eyes widening. "This is a total shitshow! We have to stop them."
"Remember what happened last time we went in weapons blazing?" Damian asked, a sarcastic tone lacing his voice.
Damian was right. Last time we went in without a plan, Jason nearly died, Damian nearly died, and the rest of us were lucky that we managed to make it out before we died. It was a total mess and the worst mistake I've ever made. I'm going to regret it until the day I die that's for sure.
My dad was a detective at Gotham PD. Well, a retired detective anyway. It's probably why Ingrid Holzer got away with stealing drugs off of the criminals they busted. I just can't believe they would do something so impulsive after the huge fight we had.
