"Eli? Can we talk?"
"About what, Richard?"
I was laying on my bed trying to figure out what actually happened last night. I nearly caused my friends to burn to death, I destroyed an apartment complex, and I figured out I had a half brother. I also figured out my dad literally killed my grandparents. The icing on the cake was finding out Levin was actually my uncle.
Who even am I anymore? What is my life? I feel like I don't even know my own family. Did my mother have secrets? Did she know about my half brother? Did she know that Levin was my dad's brother? Did Charlotte know? I was so confused.
Maverick was right in the middle of this along with my sister. Why was he spared? Why not just kill him too? It didn't make any sense unless Charlotte knew at some point they were all going to die. That's also the part that doesn't make any sense. Why did my entire family have to die at the hands of Levin and my half brother?
I heard footsteps and I felt my bed dip. I looked over and saw Dick sitting on the edge of my bed. He looked guilty. I couldn't be mad at him forever, I know he was just trying to help. I loved him like a pain in the ass brother I never wanted. He cares about me, and I'm grateful for that, but I felt completely left in the dark.
"I should've told you that I found Levin and whoever the guy was that he had with him." Dick admitted, folding his hands in his lap. He wasn't looking at me which told me that he genuinely felt bad. "I'm sorry that I didn't. I just wanted to keep you safe for as long as I could so that Maverick wouldn't be left alone."
"He would have you guys, he wouldn't be alone." I mumbled, looking at the ceiling.
"He needs you, Eli." He replied, moving farther up the bed. "You have every right to be angry and upset. I know this last week hasn't been the easiest on you."
I sat up and pulled my knees to my chest. I hated when Dick was right. Maverick does need me, I am all he really has left. Besides, Dick would feed the kid cauliflower pizza if I were to leave him stranded here.
"I just don't understand." I mumbled, running my hands through my hair. "My whole life feels like a lie."
"Bruce is back at your cabin in Gotham trying to comb through everything. He figured that it would be easier on you emotionally that way if he did." Dick replied, putting a hand on my knee. "You know, I haven't seen you angry like that since Charlotte almost died."
I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was 14, her and I went out on a mission. Dick was still Robin back then. This was before Charlotte got pregnant. Levin was up to his tricks, this time he was still with the Joker off and on.
I was on lookout while Charlotte and Dick were scoping out the abandoned amusement park. It was dark and it was cold. I heard screaming and went to check it out. Levin was trying to electrocute Dick and the Joker was trying to kill Charlotte. He wouldn't stop hitting her. I just completely lost it. That was the last time Joker and Levin ever worked together.
"I'm just so angry at my dad." I admitted. "I have so many questions for this new half brother. What was all in the contract? Why was it made? Why did my dad kill my grandparents to keep my half brother a secret?" I shook my head and let out a deep sigh. "And Levin being my uncle, supposedly, is just...insane to me."
"I don't know." Dick admitted, obviously just as confused as I am. "I do know, however, that we're going to piece this together." He patted my knee and stood up. "Also, I think you need to talk to Jason."
I raised an eyebrow. "What did he do?"
Dick gave me a deadpanned look. "Do I need to say it out loud?"
