"This is completely juvenile!"
"Fine then, you can stay here."
I was up in my room getting my things ready to leave. We were going to ambush the League of Assassins and Bruce wasn't happy with it. As soon as I told the team my plan, everyone was on board except for him and Clark. Dick didn't seem to happy but Kory talked him into it. We had to do this.
This is my way of avenging everything I had lost. Sure I gained a family, but I lost myself. I wasn't born who I thought I was, I felt like an imposter. I felt violated and I was angry. At this point I wanted to just rip Levin to shreds. He needs to pay for what he has done. We have to stop him from doing more damage.
"Loreli, listen to me." Bruce grabbed my shoulders and spun me around. "Think about this! You can't just go in there weapons ablaze, you need a plan."
"I have a plan." I pushed his hands off. "It's to kill that son of a bitch."
"What changed, huh?" Bruce asked, crossing his arms. "A few days ago you weren't like this."
"Just forget it, okay?" I turned back around. "I have to do this."
"I'm not forgetting anything." Bruce snapped, spinning me back to face him. "You aren't thinking rationally."
"I was a lab rat okay!?" I yelled, pushing him away from me. "I wasn't born who I thought I was! My stupid father and Levin fucking ruined me! I could have a normal childhood, a normal life! Instead they altered my DNA to fulfill their sick fucking fantasy." I clenched my fists. "I'm done just sitting around."
"Wait...you mean they gave you powers?" Bruce asked, blinking a few times.
"Yeah, they did." I grumbled, turning around and grabbing my bag. "I'm going in there and making Levin and Talia suffer for it."
"Eli," Bruce said, his voice calmer, "I'm sorry, I really am." He put his hands on my shoulders. "You have to really think about this, though."
"I have." I mumbled. "Levin has been aquainted with Talia for over my entire life. Now that Levin failed in his mission to build what him and my father dreamed of, he's not going to stop until he has my head and Maverick in his arms." I crossed my arms. "Talia needs to rebuild the league Ra's lost after he died. She sees Levin as an opportunity to make it stronger and better than ever with Charlotte and Owen's powers, along with the casing. They could be unstoppable unless we do something." I shook my head. "My mother always told me that if you want something to change you have to sacrifice for it. If I die trying to stop them from getting to Maverick, I've already come to terms with it. I just want him to have the life I never got to have."
Bruce looked at me with sad eyes. I could tell he was conflicted but I felt him pull me into a hug. I hugged him back as I felt him squeeze me gently.
"I'm proud of you, Eli." Bruce whispered into my ear. "Just promise me one thing?"
I pulled away and looked at him. "What's that?"
"Justice not vengeance." He replied, kissing my forehead. "Be careful, sweetheart."
I smiled sadly at him. I couldn't promise him that I would be careful. I also couldn't promise him that I wouldn't be vengeful. All I could do was smile at him.
Bruce walked out of the room and I took a deep breath. I followed suite and made my way downstairs to the foyer. Maverick was standing there with Clark, clinging on to his stuffed tiger Rosco. I knelt down to his height and put my hands on his shoulders.
"I want to give you something." I told him, removing my hands and going into my bag. "This is my lucky bracelet." I grabbed his hand and put the bracelet in it. "I want it to be your lucky bracelet now."
