this could be two chapters but eh. also how many of you have finals? they're kicking my ass.

Jason and I finally made it to Cleveland. He drove the rest of the way there while I was mentally preparing myself for what I was going to be walking in to. I didn't know what my grandparents were like or if they would even accept me into their home. I've always been curious about them but now that it's happening, I feel nervous as hell.

I missed Maverick a lot. Usually we would be playing a hardcore game of eye spy right now or he would be telling me made up stories. It just felt empty without him here. I had to leave him with the team though just in case my grandparents are nuts. I half hoped they would just slam the door in my face and call it a day.

I picked up my phone and decided to text Kory and fill her in. I promised her I would let her know when we made it to Cleveland.

Me: jason got us here in one piece

Kory: i'm happy to hear that. everything going okay?

Me: i'm so nervous....what if this was all for nothing?

Kory: you'll get closure and besides, you're with jason. you still win somehow

Me: i guess you're right. how's mav?

Kory: missing you and jason. he's found a new friend in damian, i will say that

Me: oh? how did that happen?

Kory: damian can't pass up a good story

Me: ah the little booger, he's hard to say no to. i miss him a lot, i can't wait to get back

"We're here." Jason stated, parking the car.

I put my phone back in my pocket and looked to my right. The house was small and the yard was extremely well kept. The neighborhood seemed to be quiet and normal. It was something totally different from where I grew up. I liked it though, it was very quaint.

Jason grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I looked over at him and he just nodded his head. I sighed and gave him a small grin in return. I felt my whole stomach feel like it was about to drop out of me. I was anxious.

I took a deep breath and climbed out of the car. Jason followed and walked around to my side. He put an arm around me and rubbed my shoulder.

"I just...I don't know what to expect." I told him, slowly stepping up on to the sidewalk.

Jason pulled me closer to him. "It'll be okay."

I put my hand over his and we made our way up to the front door. I held my breath and knocked on it. The curtains were closed and I didn't notice a car in the driveway.

"Maybe they're not home?" I questioned, looking around.

"Maybe no-"

"-Can I help you?"

My head whipped my forward. There stood a woman about my height. Long grey hair and icy blue eyes. She was wearing a sun dress and sandals. I blinked a couple of times, my mouth going dry.

"H-Hi-" I cleared my throat, "Hi. I was looking for Joy and Robert?"

"I'm Joy. What can I do for you?" The woman replied, smiling a little.

I bit the inside of my cheek. "I was um, hoping you could answer a few questions for me about your sons...."

Joy's face went sour. She looked like she had just seen a ghost. "Which one?"

"Both of them...if that's okay..?" I told her, my hand gripping Jason's.

"I uh, I think this is a bad time." Joy mumbled, going to shut the door.
