Men had all the power when it came to who they wanted to date. It was one of society's rules.

Sure women also had a choice in this regard, but it was almost always after the fact. The man would decide first and the woman would decide if she was ok with that decision, it was never the other way around.

Women typically blamed each other for men's choices and it simply wasn't fair.

Amy knew it wasn't fair for her to blame her sister for the fact that her boss decided to still pursue her after all that had occurred.

She could remember every gleam of excitement on the other girl's face as she talked about how they met at the same club they'd gone to. She'd called it fate.

Kendra stood from the vanity she'd been sitting on to join her sister on the bed and she explained their meeting as if it was a movie.

It probably wasn't much different from the other times with the other guys, but she admittedly had never paid as much attention in the past as she did in that moment.

She'd been so used to her sister overdramatizing her life's events, it was in her personality. That was why she was such a great content creator, she found excitement in the dullest of moments.

But Amy couldn't help the tightness in her chest that time around.

Perhaps it reminded her of the other times the guys she'd liked went for her sister instead of her.

She didn't know if it was the recollection and accumulation of hurt through the years from the same occurrence, or if the moment was independent of itself.

It confused her because it wasn't like he'd been chivalrous when they'd met. There was nothing about him that warranted all the emotions she'd been experiencing, yet her heart sang a different song.

Kendra had said that she remembered him staring her down the night that they met him, he was hot, of course she'd taken notice.

That was yet another reason that went against her feelings. He was very clearly using her to get with her sister.

Amy couldn't be upset with her. Sure she'd told her that he was the guy who drove her home that night, but it didn't mean she owned him.

She never owned any of the guys that always went for her sister, there was nothing she could do if they liked her more.

Kendra was the one he wanted all along, not her. She was just the girl he got stuck with at the end of the evening and subsequently slept with, that was where their story ended and she needn't make it a bigger deal than it actually was.

"The first week is done and the dead weight has been released, which means it's time for the real work to begin. I am no longer going to be 'understanding' to you because you're new. You've undergone a week's long training and now you've officially been here for too long. If you're still here, it's not by mistake and the time to prove why you were chosen starts now. Let this continue to be your reminder that at the end of this program, more than half of you won't be here, it's up to you to choose which side of the spectrum you want to be on."
The peers all heard Ms. Viera say.

The older lady hadn't stopped reminding them since they got there but their nerves stayed guarded and alert.

The "dead weight" that was released was of course the 10 people who were "not supposed to be here in the first place."
