Unintentional Heart's Desire

A glimpse of forever.

The journey had taken a little longer than they had anticipated, but that didn't mean they regretted it one bit.

A day off had turned into a week off.

That time could have admittedly been cut short had they taken a flight, but that was too risky and Amy didn't allow him to book a private jet for them. It was 'too much'.

So they'd settled with driving there.

Of course they had made arrangements with work. Jason had gone on a 'conference' out of town, and Amy was off sick with a very contagious flu. A sick note was organized and everything.

The trip was also meant to be their alone time.

The two had been working too hard and they deserved a break.

But above all, Jason wanted to give Amy a breather after everything she'd been through. He didn't think the week off would get her over everything, but he hoped some answers from her father would provide some kind of healing.

So they'd made a road trip out of it. They were finally going to be together outside of his apartment.

Staying in a city where he was so well-known wasn't easy at all.

Of course at that point everyone knew who he was. Pictures of the young bachelor CEO had been released to the public and there was hardly ever a week he didn't make the news, whether it was in reference to his father, or because everyone awaited his downfall.

So being with the girl in public was something he was never going to be able to do, at least not at that point in their lives.

He was sure she'd get torn to shreds by the media too if anyone were to find out about them, of course he didn't want that.

As a result, they had to hide. He knew he acted irresponsibly to the girl about that but he couldn't help himself. All he ever wanted in her presence was to bask in it, that was what she ensued out of him.

It wasn't fair because all he ever wanted was to be able to hold her hand and not have that have consequences, but he knew better, they both did.

Their road trip allowed them the chance to explore the countryside together without worrying about what the masses would say. They'd also both never traveled such a long distance by car before so it was a first experience they got to share together.

The P.I. he'd hired had found out that though her biological father had lived in the city for the majority of his life, he'd moved back to where his family was originally from a few years before.

Jason had been specific to him about only wanting the man's address. Whatever else they were to find out they wanted it to be from the man himself.

From the little Amy's mother had told her about her father, he was a safe and reasonable man, so there was no need to worry about safety.

"You know, it's... Uhm... it's different."
The girl had stuttered. Referring to his 'different' playlist.

They were deep into their road trip and mindlessly chatting with Jason's favorite music playing in the background.
