It had felt like an eternity since she last set foot at her place of employment.
The air felt different that day and she wished desperately for work to be over already.
Whatever consequence awaited her needed to happen, just so she could begin moving on from the events of the past week.
Uncertainty overfilled her, even though certainty was assured regarding her future with a certain CEO of a megacorp.
There was no future.
She wished she could just blink and be over him but it simply wasn't that easy.
When she woke up that morning, she'd hoped to get a message from him, maybe even a missed call.
Whatever sign of 'I thought of you' he could've possibly given her, she was ready to receive.
But of course that was all wishful thinking.
She'd spent the entire weekend without a word from him and it was safe to assume he wasn't going to call or text. That was it.
And Amy knew better than to force someone to be with her.
So her plan of action was to pretend.
Pretend she didn't care until that became her reality.
She would move on from the events of the past couple of weeks and eventually it would be like they never happened.
It was only until Amy set foot in the engineering wing that she took notice of everyone staring at her.
She'd recalled seeing a few people looking at her as soon as she'd walked into the building but she hadn't thought much of it.
Everyone looked at everyone, it wasn't a rare occurrence.
However, when she saw the fourth person staring her down in that room alone, she knew something was up.
Did they know?
Her heart tightened.
Guilt, more than anything consumed her.
What would her colleagues think of her if they knew she had relations with their boss?
That mattered to her.
She never wanted anyone to think she didn't work hard to be where she was."Ms. Rutherford, nice of you to finally join us. I take it you're feeling better now?"
The sarcasm and clear disdain were unavoidable in Ms. Viera's tone. Her loud voice had everyone at attention.
She was speaking to Amy but she made sure everyone heard.
Ms. Viera was not one to stand for unethical practices and she was not shy to voice it.
She had no definitive proof that her boss was sleeping with the young girl but there were way too many coincidences to ignore.
She'd had the girl's phone a few weeks before and she'd hoped to get proof from it but it was locked, and she hadn't received any calls or texts from the younger Cooper.
