All he had to do was pretend she didn't exist, it wasn't hard at all.
There was a time her existence was unknown to him and life was perfectly fine with that lack of knowledge, he just had to go back to that.
To wake up and not think of her sublimely toned face that carried a beauty mark right in between her eyes.
To not picture the tiny freckles that populated the small area underneath the dark hazel pair. They hardly stood out to the naked eye but if you took time to really look at her, you would notice them. That was if you didn't get stuck in the shadows of her pupils.
To breathe without thinking she'd fallen into the hands of another and how disgruntled that would make him.
It didn't matter if she did. She was not his to claim and whoever wanted her had every right to court her, it was no problem of his.
All emotions ever truly brought was trouble. He was thankful that his father made him realize that at an early age.
They made a feast of your heart's discontent and left you to pick up the pieces.
Feelings were for the faint-hearted and weak.
After putting his car in park, Jason stepped out of the mustard-colored SUV and onto the polished floor of his private parking.
The walls smelled of fresh paint, and the fluorescent lights illuminated the outdoor features of his brand-new Maserati Levante Trofeo.
The car's gleam mirrored him as he treaded toward the lift that needn't be pressed to open its doors for him.
The long ascension was accompanied by the tuneful sound of Mozart's Magic flute. He bobbed his head and foot to the rhythm of his favorite classical composer and thanked himself for having his preferred music installed in the caged space. It certainly did brighten up his day.
The elevator doors proceeded to open upon arrival to the privacy of his office.
His father had the private lift created so he wouldn't have to run into the hired hand, the older Cooper never wanted to share proximity with people below him, he believed energies transferred.
Jason preferred the private elevator because it helped him maintain his need for solitude.
It was the reason he was as good as he was at his job. His mind was the most active when he was all alone and he used that time to come up with the decisions that made the company remain the nation's industry lead.
He'd only started running the company recently but he'd been working for it pretty much since he learned to spell the word company.
Not a lot of people knew this but he had been working virtually for Coopers and Co. for years.
He'd overlooked so many of the megacorp's successful releases and even helped out his father with certain aspects of the corporation.
Dr. Cooper was a very good businessman but Jason was the heart of the business. All the older man had truly done was invest a lot of money into something he believed in, something he was confident would thrive in a few years, and indeed it did.
