It was a hot summer's day at the Cooper's Manor, and all the tri-state area's one-percenters gathered with their families in what was known as the Annual Coopers Function.

It was where the prominent elite met up in business and in pleasure to deniably keep the wealth in the circle.

The vastness of the crowd only spoke volumes of how the affluent cared not about what didn't concern them.

Having just gotten out of the biggest scandal of the year, one would think they would denounce the older Cooper and his family, because it was wrong to sexually abuse multiple women right? Well you could tell that to someone who cared.

For years, allegations against the different families had come up. They'd be 'canceled' until people forgot and moved on to another scandal.

It was just the way of the world, it hardly had anything to do with them.

If they'd let the mainstream media influence the way that they lived their lives, they would've been as ordinary as everyone else was. Of course they didn't want that.

Even though the other families had their own self-titled annual functions, that day was reserved for the Coopers. Anyone who was anyone knew that.

The staffers of the mansion had gone all out for the occasion, as they did every year.

The women sat on mini tables having their own little tea party, the kids amassed across the massive backyard that had all kinds of activities for them, and the men stood sipping whiskey and smoking cigars in conversation.

It was a fun-filled day for all parties involved.

Dr. Cooper stood among the men, bragging about his son who was already projected to be nominated for the CEO Leadership Award. It had hardly been a few months and he had already brought in tremendous numbers.

It certainly helped that everyone had such low expectations of his son. They'd all thought he was a spoiled brat who would be let go just as quickly as he was instated.

That was what made the reveal even more astonishing.

He'd had much joy reveling in the disappointment of those who couldn't wait for the Coopers' success to be tarnished.

It was silly because even if they'd taken away the CEO title, the Coopers were the majority owners of Coopers and Co, its subsidiaries, and they'd been on the board of several other corporations.

Dr. Cooper was indestructible and he pretty much owned the country. A petty little scandal wasn't going to tear down all the hard work he'd put into building his legacy.
What did they think?

Sure they took away his child, which was Coopers and Co, but it wasn't like that would've been the end of him.

His son being the new Chief Officer only proved that they couldn't get rid of him if they tried.

Oh how proud he was of the boy.

He'd proven to be what he had raised him to be, and even surpassed that. He'd gotten that gene from him no doubt.

He knew that he was always hard on him, but it was so he could go and achieve greatness of such magnitude. Jason didn't quite understand it then, but he was going to once he grew older, he would know how sacrifices were often necessary for the greater good.
