Amy knew that she would eventually have to see her sister again, it was inevitable.

It had felt like an entire year since she'd last seen her even though it had been just under two weeks.

She hadn't gone to the Friday dinner with her family the week before, and that was only partly to do with her sister.

After finding out the truth about her biological father and his relationship with her mother, she hadn't been the same.

But she knew she needed to speak to her mother about it since she'd done it behind her back.

It was becoming increasingly evident to her that her actions truly were irresponsible.

Of course her mother would've wanted to know beforehand. Perhaps if she'd been brave enough to ask her about it, she would've told her the whole story.

But of course she'd insisted on taking the much longer, much complicated path.

If she'd thought with her brain and not with her heart, she would've known to wait until the time was right.

She would've known to consult with her mother, whom she was raised by and asked if she were ok with it.

A wave of guilt overfilled her.

She didn't know how the older lady was going to react but she was going to have to take responsibility for her actions.

She'd dreaded that Friday evening because that was when the conversation was meant to happen.

But now the evening had arrived and she couldn't hide behind the days to come anymore.

She'd hoped the exchange would go smoothly but she feared that might not be the case.

For as long as she could remember, the topic of her biological father was one that they'd all avoided. Amy concluded that it must've been because it hurt to talk about.

But how could she betray her own mother like that?

Would she have done it if Jason hadn't come into her life?

It wasn't fair to blame him, but one thing was for certain;

Ever since he came into her life, things seemed to be chaotic.

Her relationship with her sister was at odds, her job was hanging on by a thread, she'd ruined her chance at having genuine friends, her heart pained at night, and she'd done something that was possibly going to damage her relationship with her mother forever.

Perhaps he was right to break up with her.

They were irresponsible together.

Getting out of her Uber, Amy took a sigh and deep breath when she saw her sister's car in the driveway.

She'd decided that whatever would happen, she would take the high road, it was always her role anyway, as if she were the elder of the two.

"Well well well, if it isn't the prodigal daughter."
Amy smiled because she truly did not expect anything more from her.

She entered through the door to see her sister seated on the couch and scrolling through her phone.
