Lena's POV

Yelena and I are standing in my mother's, the headmaster's, office. She is sitting in her chair as she addresses both of us with a serious expression. 

"Listen girls you are aware of how serious this situation is. The Danvers family must be put down and it is your job to do it. Failure is not an option. Don't bother coming back you will not have a home if you don't succeed." 

We both nod our understanding while standing at attention. 

My mother scowls at us as she says "The Princess will be making her rounds around the different areas of the kingdom and interacting with the people. Lucky for us her family has gotten cocky. They only intend to send her out with one guard. The files will have more info about how to deal with the guard." as she passes that file to my blonde best friend. She turns her attention back to me and says "The information about the princess is in there. Her Mother's won't be attending the rounds with her either. So this is an opportunity we won't get again." I nod my understanding and my mom gives us a nod of approval before saying "Get some sleep for your big day tomorrow. " 

Yel and I both solute before we walk out of the office and back to our shared quarters.

I smile sarcastically at my friend as I say "You excited?"

Yelena shrugs and says "I just want to get it over with like any other mission." Yelena didn't love our jobs but she owed my family a life debt and this was the only way for her to repay the debt. You may ask why am I doing this. Well, my mother may slightly have threatened to kill Yelena if I didn't fall in line. 

"Let's just get through it."

We finally reached our room.

Yel spreads out her file on the bed as I do the same with my file on my bed.

****Time Skip*****

I am sitting in one of the tall towers as I use my scope to look down at the gathered crowd.

Hundreds of people lined each side of the street as well as hundreds more walking through the square and the market.

There were festivals all throughout the kingdom in celebration of the coronation of the future queen. Well, she won't ever get to be if Yel and I have anything to say about it.

I spot Yelena hanging out in a side alley. She was dressed in a long-sleeve dress that was common for girls in our kingdom so she could fit in better. Her hair was in a simple braid and I could see the her attention was zoned in on our target. My attention and the scope follow her line of sight to the princess. 

There in the middle of the street was the Princess. She was wearing a gorgeous royal blue tunic that made her eyes pop and shine as she waved politely at the people she passes. Her blonde hair was hanging loosely around her shoulders. She casually greeted her subjects as any princess should and her guard was a couple feet behind her. The guard was tall and kept a serious expression but she was thinner then a literal twig. Kinda shocking that she could do much to protect the princess but there is 

I scoff and stretch my trigger finger as I mutter "No distractions. Just get it over with Le" 

I don't let that interfere with my focus as I say "Don't let it fool you Yel. She is still a royal guard"

I hear her grumble some mocking words through our earpiece. 

The princess stopped to look at a flower stand.

I adjust for the wind as my finger rests over the trigger and I say "Get ready."

Yelena doesn't respond but I know she is approaching the guard.
