AN: Hello! Once again thank you again for all the support on this story I love you all more than words can ever say! I am sorry I have been struggling with motivation so this will be relatively short
So if you don't follow sports you know that the WCWS (women's college world series)(for softball)) is happening right now! (Go Cards btw if you don't have a team root for Stanford cause they are my team and they are most likely going to get murdered by the next team they face)
AN ABOUT STORY: This is about Kara and Lena's future child (Kieran) struggling with an identity crisis from being in the shadow of her sister Powergirl (Alura), and mother Supergirl. She travels back in time to see her older sister when she was in high school (They are 17 years apart in age so Kieran isn't born yet)
Alura's POV
I am sitting in the library studying when I hear someone plop into the seat across from me.
It was general seating and the library was relatively crowded so I am having trouble focusing with all the noise and was about to give up when the person said "What are you studying?"
"Biology."
There is a couple of beats of silence as I try and find my place in the reading once again. Mom had been trying to show me how to read in superspeed but it was impossible with dyslexia.
You would think with a genius mother and a super-powered mother it wouldn't be this difficult but jeez I got unlucky with my reading comprehension skills.
I slam my head into the table thankfully I have enough control that I don't shatter the table or split it into two.
"Are you really having trouble?"
"Yeah this shit sucks to learn"
"Really?" I don't recognize the girl from any of my classes current or past. Midvale is a small town so it is a bit surprising. She had short black hair and blue eyes that complemented her sun-tanned skin. She couldn't be much older then 13 or 14.
"My grandma and aunt have a Ph.D. in the subject and spend time tutoring me and I understand it when it's explained out loud but reading drives me crazy. I am dyslexic so it's nearly impossible to read all the crazy terms."
"Your dyslexic Alura? I didn't know that..."
I pause for a second "I am sorry but do I know you? I can't place your face."
"No you don't," she says with a chuckle before adding under her breath "At least you won't for a long time" I am about to question her further when she says "I am Kieran."
"Alura but you already knew that."
"I did"
"And you are shocked that I am struggling with biology?"
"Yes but more struggling with reading than anything."
"Why is that Kieran?"
"From what I know of you, you are a big reader."
I pause and my mind races through several completely absurd possibilities but I still ask "Kieran how do you know me?"
She is caught in a spiral of thoughts and says almost of instincts "You are my sist-" but catches herself and her eyes go wide
She stands but I send a look at her that makes her sit back down.
"I am an only child at the moment so you are either from the future or a different universe," I ask calmly in a quiet voice that only people with super hearing can hear
"I can't hear you, unfortunately. I am unfortunately the only person in the family that the power gene skipped over."
"When or where are you from?" I question a bit confused.
"15 years I am your kid sister."
"Ah and why exactly did you decide to come back in time and possibly mess up the timeline by talking to me?"
She laughs bitterly and says "That seems about right for me the family fuck up always."
"Why in the world would you say that?" I question shocked by her self-deprecation.
"I am powerless. And useless. And the sister and daughter are National City and the world's greatest heroes. I am barely surviving my freshman year of high school. I have no friends and none of this will change anything because you barely speak two sentences to me unless it is about something relating to our parents. And all they do is compare me to how perfect you are and where."
I pause trying to digest all of her words and find the best response and I decide on "Did I never tell you in the future that my powers didn't kick in until I was 16?"
"What?"
"Yeah, I had random bursts when I was super angry. Nearly killed Mama with heat vision during an argument. Besides that, it took 16 years, and then poof on my birthday I woke up floating in the middle of my room."
"So...."
"I am not guaranteeing that you may get your powers but there is a chance it just may take until you turn 16. As for me in the future? I am sorry we don't have a relationship. I have been begging our moms to adopt or have another kid so I had a baby sibling since I was 4. As for me being perfect? That's far from the truth and I will remember to smack our parents if I ever catch them doing that to you. I am an anxious mess trying to live up to the standards of our parents which feels like an impossible hill to climb. I have dyslexia which is causing me to fail 90% of my classes and I have finals and SATs coming up for college so I am royally screwed there" I take a deep breath and reach over and lay my hands on hers "Look it may seem like I am perfect. That's the same way I view Mom and I get more than anyone how harmful the cycle of thought is, but I guarantee that future me is less perfect than you think or see. I mean if I had a younger sister the reason I would hesitate in talking is I would be scared of fucking up our relationship. That's no excuse for how future me has treated you but maybe reach out and see if I am just scared. Cause I guarantee I love you more then words can say cause your my family."
AN: I am sorry I am tired and this wasn't great or the way I exactly wanted it to turn out but I tried and I hope you enjoyed it
