AN: Okay I swear to fucking god I am going to for real right a pt 2 of the last chapter but this popped into my head first! 

This story is somewhat in the format of letters but also in real-time so I hope you enjoy the different style. 

(These aren't all the letters that Lena sends it is just the important ones)

Lena's POV

Dear Kara

It has been almost a week since you deployed. Your superiors aren't telling me anything about your whereabouts because it is so top secret. 

1 week. 

It doesn't sound like a long time but it feels like an eternity. I miss you so much. The worst part is I don't know if these letters are even reaching you. They told me because you are so mobile it is possible that it won't reach you and that you will most likely not be able to respond.

Mel is growing every day. It is blowing my mind. She is sad that her Mama won't be here for her 7th birthday but she looks up to you so much and knows that you are protecting us and a lot of other people and that is why you won't be there.

She told me to tell you that she loves you very much and to say safe.

Well, that's all for now Babe. I love you to the moon and back a thousand times and much more. Stay safe soldier.

Dear Kara,

As always, I hope you are safe. 

I don't know if you have gotten any or all my letters but let me keep you updated. 

Work is good all of my students are working hard. Some of them had a little trouble in the beginning but have quickly caught on. The ones who have gotten close to me are worried about me. They think I am lonely and need a love life. I don't have the heart to explain that I have found the love of my life but she is off saving our country.

Mel is working hard in third grade. She is a smart girl. She brought in a photo of us just before you left into show and tell. She loves bragging about her Mama a lot. 

The officers on the base stopped by and said you got promoted to the rank of general and that you will be in charge of an elite special forces task force trying to eradicate terrorism. They say you are going to be in charge of everyone in the task force and that no one has a rank below sergeant. I am excited to hear all about your adventures, or at least as much as you can tell me.

Hi Kara,

Mel and I miss you tons and await your return. No one is telling us when you will be back. Hopefully soon.

Mel just finished her first semester of school and is very excited for winter break to be over. She wants to get back to her friends. I am thinking about taking us on a vacation over spring break. I think we need to get out of the house a little. It is becoming hard for us to be at home. Everything reminds me of you.

I have been wearing your old hoodies but they stopped smelling like you a couple of months ago.

My students still worry about me but I am very proud of them. They all passed the final exam for the semester with an 80% or better. One of my students Felix was a lot of trouble at the beginning of the year and didn't seem to be trying very hard. It took some convincing and heart-to-heart talks but they are my best student. I am very proud of Felix. They have shown so much progress.
