"Hey, you!" The first thing I'm greeted with as I walk onto the UA campus is a microphone shoved in my face. I have to flinch back to avoid getting punched by the reporter trying to interview me. "What's it like having All Might as a teacher?"
Great. Just what I needed today. A giant crowd. I take a deep breath and try to say no comment so I can walk on, but even more microphones get in my way. The flashing of cameras and the overlapping voices make my head spin.
"I'm sorry, I have to get to class." I whimper as I slink back, away from this swarm. I don't even know which way I'm going until I find myself stumbling past the gate, tripping once I finally break free. I wince as the brick scrapes my knees and hands.
An upperclassman helps me to my feet and I quickly head inside, away from the shitstorm that the press is about to brew up.
When I reach the classroom, Tenya isn't there. That's odd. Is he sick? Or is he still caught up with the press?
"Ah, there you are!" A familiar voice chimes from behind me. Tenya scoots past me to get to his seat. "I was wondering if you got caught up in that media swarm. Glad to see you're alright."
"Yeah, it's bad out there." I inspect my palms. A few abrasions, but nothing that won't ease up in a day or two. At least the stinging has stopped.
"Oh, did you get hurt?"
"I just tripped outside the gate, it's no big deal. Just some scraped knees and the like." I laugh.
"Still, this doesn't sit right with me."
"Tenya, these are like the most superficial injuries you can get. They'll be better by the end of the day."
"No, I mean the media." Tenya says.
"Oh, yeah, that too. They've never been this early before. I've never run into them on my way here." I cross my arms over my chest.
"It's ridiculous."
"I don't think they'll leave before they get a good scoop though. Next thing we know, they'll practically be living outside the school." I groan. "God, I hate crowds. They're too noisy, I can't keep my head on straight."
"I'm not a fan of them either, I'll admit."
We continue to make idle chatter about the media until everyone else arrives and Aizawa makes us take our seats. Denki gives me an exhausted look as he sits down. He must have been harassed by the press too.
Aizawa gives us a short recap of our battle trials, mainly criticizing Bakugo and Midoriya for their reckless attacks on each other. Denki and I aren't paying too close of attention, choosing instead to play hangman by taking turns passing a note between each other.
"Let's get down to business." Aizawa calls our attention back to him just as Denki figures out my word was game. "The first task will decide your future."
You could practically hear a pin drop from how silent we all get. Not another quirk test, please, anything but that.
"You all need to pick a class representative."
A collective sigh of relief sounds. Just normal school stuff.
Suddenly, everyone begins talking over each other, just like the media outside. I put my hands over my ears to dampen the sound. Everything is just too loud today, huh?
"Silence, everyone, please!" Tenya says. I say we should just make him the class rep and be done with it. Next order of business. "The class representative's duty is to lead others. That's not something just anyone can do. You must first have the trust of every student in the classroom. Therefore, the most logical way to fill this position is democratically. We will hold an election to choose our leader."
