*Jade's POV*

I text Tenya that I'm on my way as I approach the train station. He responds almost immediately.

"Perfect. I can't wait to see you."

I pocket my phone with a smile. He can't wait to see me. Sure, it's probably because he's been in the hospital all weekend with his brother, but I can let myself be excited about this. I hold the bouquet of flowers I got for Tensei close to my chest as I step onto the train.

In my bag, I've also carefully packed a small compartmentalized thermos of food for Tenya. I might have gone a little bit overboard with the food, but I wanted him to have something homecooked. I really hope he likes it. I thought about swinging by for bubble tea, but my hands are currently at full capacity, so I had to forgo that. I made some green tea right before I left and put it in another thermos for him.

It does occur to me for a second that I'm putting in a lot of effort for someone who isn't my boyfriend, but I shake that thought away. My relationship with Tenya isn't important right now. What is important is that he knows he has someone here for him during all of this.

When I arrive at the hospital and tell them who I'm here to see, a nurse leads me to the room. She asks if I was in the UA Sports Festival and my cheeks flush.

"I was, yeah." I say.

"I knew I recognized you. You did a wonderful job." She smiles at me outside of Tensei's door.

I thank her before she leaves to take care of other patients. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever I might see on the other side, and open the door.

Tensei is lying on the bed, wires and tubes attached to several places in his body. If he looks this bad today, I can only imagine what he looked like yesterday. Tenya is pulling another chair up next to the one he's presumably been using. He sits in his chair, only to look up and see me, lighting up.

"Jade!" Tenya jumps up, rushing to me. He wraps his arms around me, whispering in my ear, "Thank you for coming. It means a lot."

"Of course. How are you doing?" I move the flowers down so he doesn't crush them.

"I'm ... I'm alright." He lets me go. "Are these for Tensei?" He points to the flowers.

"Yeah. I didn't really know what else to get him-"

"They're beautiful. I'll go put them by his bed." He carefully takes the small vase from my hand. I follow him to his brother's bedside. As he's setting the flowers down, he decides to introduce us. "Tensei, this is Jade. Jade, this is my brother, Tensei."

"Hello, Jade." Tensei smiles at me. God, these two look exactly alike. "Good to finally put a face to the name. Tenya never shuts up about you."

"That's not true." Tenya says quickly. "I talk about all my friends equally."

"Yeah, okay, I'll pretend I believe you." Tensei laughs, but gives me a look that says Tenya isn't telling the whole truth.

"It's very nice to meet you, sir." I nod to Tensei.

"Oh, you don't need to be so formal with me." He says. "Go on, take a seat, I don't bite."

I slowly sit in one of the chairs, suddenly remembering the food I've brought for Tenya. "Oh, Tenya, I brought you some stuff!"

Tenya blinks in surprise as he sits next to me. "You didn't have to do that ..."

"I wanted to." I give him the tea while I dig the compartmentalized thermos out of my bag to give that to him too. "There was an attempt made to make beef stew, but I don't know how well I did."
