I check the time on my phone. Twenty minutes until the battles. I look down at Tenya, who's sleeping peacefully, still clutching my hand.

"Tenya, hey, it's time to wake up." I gently touch his shoulder with my free hand. He stirs, but doesn't open his eyes. I carefully shake his shoulder. "Come on, you have to get up."

He groans and slowly sits up, rubbing his eyes. I slide his glasses back on for him.

"Thank you." He reaches up to smooth his hair down. "I feel much more refreshed."

"I'm glad." I say, hoping that I'm not too red right now. "Are you ready for these battles?"

"I think so."

"You're gonna crush it."

"I hope so. I'm sure my brother is watching. I want to make him proud."

"I'm sure he's plenty proud of you already."

He smiles softly. "Let's go to the stands."

"Alright." I stand up.

Tenya and I walk to the stands together. Denki waves us over. I sit next to Denki, Tenya next to me, and Uraraka next to him. All of us watch with bated breath as we wait for Midoriya to come onto the pitch and kick us off. Tenya discreetly reaches over and takes my hand. Guess he's a lot more nervous than he's letting on.

Denki and Uraraka look at each other, but neither of them say anything.

Midoriya strolls up to the stage Cementoss set up, Shinso coming up across from him. The tension in the air thickens.

"Who do you think is gonna win?" Denki leans over to me.

"It's tough, especially since I don't really know what Shinso's quirk is. I don't really understand Midoriya's either, but it seems like a match up against physical and mental quirks. As long as Midoriya doesn't lose focus, he might have a good shot. Plus the hero course has a slight advantage against the other classes. I don't know." I know who I'm hoping for, but it's probably not the right answer, given the situation. I'd like to root for my classmate, but I also want to root for someone whose voice doesn't make me want to tear my skin off.

Mic starts the match. Midoriya starts to charge at Shinso, fist ready to swing, when he suddenly stops dead in his tracks, arm swinging like a marionette that just had its strings cut.

Ojiro grunts in frustration. "I warned him not to say anything!"

"Why in the world isn't he moving?" Tenya leans forward.

Suddenly, Midoriya turns around and starts walking toward the boundary line.

"He can't walk out of the ring!" Tenya begins flinging his arms around wildly, yanking me along with him. "He'll lose the match if he does!"

"Tenya, my arm!" I have to lean back to avoid getting hit in the face.

"Right, sorry." He stops moving, but continues to stare intensely at the field.

Just as Midoriya approaches the line, he somehow breaks himself free of whatever trance he's in.

Tenya jumps up, hauling me along with him. "That's the way to do it!" He cheers. Now everyone can see that we're holding hands, if that wasn't obvious by how he was flinging me about earlier.

Seeing Tenya so happy for his friend, I can't help but cheer too.

The match is over pretty soon after Midoriya breaks free. He tosses Shinso out of bounds. For once, the stadium is quiet. Midnight announces the victor and cheers break out.
