"Yes?"

I looked back to find Kushida-san with a dishonest smile on her face. I don't know what business she has with me, but I'll play along for now.

"You're also in class D, right? I'm sorry, but I didn't quite catch your name."

I left the classroom before introducing myself yesterday, so that's fair. Unlike Kushida-san, I'm just relying on morning attendance call to learn my classmates' names rather than simply asking them.

"Yes, it's Morimoto."

"Morimoto-kun... I see. I'm Kushida Kikyou. It's nice to finally meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."

"If it's okay with you, can we exchange contact information?"

"Um, that's a little sudden. May I know the reason?"

Where is this conversation going?

"Well, I'd like to become friends with all my classmates, so I'm getting everyone's contact information as a first step."

There is some truth to what she's saying; it's just that she doesn't seem very genuine. That being said, while I don't fully trust her, I did promise I would try harder to make friends, and getting someone's phone number is a step in the right direction.

"Oh okay, then."

After our brief exchange, Kushida-san joined some of our other classmates, and they all headed somewhere together. I opened my contacts list to find that I now had a whopping two contacts:

- Ichinose Honami

- Kushida Kikyou

One of them is my sister, so I don't know how much that counts, but I'll take it.

With that out of the way, I went on to explore the now bustling campus. There were many different high-caliber sports complexes, restaurants, dorms for each grade, and more. Security cameras were also scattered everywhere, but there were blind spots that could be exploited. It would take me a while to find and memorize all their locations, but I was in no hurry. Putting aside my investigation, I also browsed a few shops to see if I might find anything interesting and to feel less like a deranged psychopath scanning every inch of this place.

A few days have passed, and I'm starting to get acclimated to my situation. I now have a better grasp of my classmates' names and personalities and am starting to feel ever so slightly more at ease. I still don't have any friends, but that's beside the point.

Today's club recruitment day, and I was actually looking forward to that a little. I'm probably not joining any clubs for the time being, but I'm curious as to what club activities the school has to offer. Plus, I might change my mind later on, so it's important to know my options. There were the usual candidates at the event such as soccer, basketball, tennis, and more niche activities like fencing and archery as well.

The red-haired boy from the first day of school, who I now know is Sudou-kun, was searching frantically for something; he probably has a specific club in mind which makes sense given his physique. While he was looking around, our eyes met, and he started walking towards me.

"Hey, man. Do you happen to know where the basketball club's stand is?"

I've never talked directly to Sudou-kun, so this could be a good opportunity to get to know each other.

"It's over in the last row at the back. Are you interested in joining the basketball club, Sudou-kun?"

"Yeah, I've been playing for a while now. By the way, how do you know my name?"
