Chapter 15

"So, you told your friends about your past?"

"Yeah, I didn't think it was fair for them to be friends with me without knowing what I've done."

"I'm just happy to see that you've made friends, and that you're getting along with them."

For some reason, Honami looks like she isn't satisfied.

"What is it?"

"I feel like there's something you're not telling me about that day. Did something happen between you and Satou-san?"

"Nothing that I can think of."

"Hmm, okay, I'll pretend to believe you. By the way, the pool the swim club uses will be open to everyone tomorrow. Are you going?"

"Yeah, I'm going with my friends. I'm assuming you're also going to be there."

"Uh-huh. I'll be seeing you there, then."

The next day, I met up with Satou, Matsushita, and Shinohara in the lobby and we headed off to the changing rooms. I headed out once I was done changing, but the girls were nowhere to be seen.

"I guess it's to be expected that they'd take longer to get changed."

While waiting, I noticed a rather large group by the pool. The group was comprised of Sudou, Ike, Yamauchi, Ayanokouji, Sakura, Horikita, Kushida, Honami, Kanzaki, and I'm assuming the four other people are in Honami's class as well.

"Morimoto, did we keep you waiting?"

"No, I just got done changing not too long a-"

The three were wearing their own swimsuits rather than the school ones, so it was the first time I saw them like that. It definitely hit a lot different than seeing them during swimming lessons. 

"What's going on over there?"

Thankfully, they didn't seem to notice my surprise and instead pointed to the large group I had seen.

"I was actually wondering the same thing."

"I'm really curious Let's go see."

With the four of us in agreement, we made our way to the Class D and Class B students.

"Hey, what's going on over here?"

"Morimoto, perfect timing. We're missing a player."

"Huh?"

"We're gonna play volleyball against Class B, and the losers have to buy lunch for the winners. We need one more player to have six."

I looked back at the group to see if I had miscounted.

"Aren't there already seven of you?"

"Yeah, but Sakura and Kushida are gonna sit this one out, so we've only got five people."

Hmm. A match against Honami's class could be fun, but I didn't come here alone. If they're only missing one player, that means the others can't take part.

"What about you three?"

"We'll watch. It sounds like fun."

"You better not lose, though."

If they don't mind watching, then I've got no reason to refuse.

"Sure, I'll play."

"Come to think of it, this is the first time we'll be directly competing since we got here, Hisashi."
