"That's a pretty interesting group you've got there."

"Morimoto-kun? What are you doing here?"

"I was just taking a walk and saw your little gathering, so I thought I'd pop by."

I grabbed a nearby chair and sat down at the table while the others resumed their conversation.

"The VIP of the Dragon group is Kushida Kikyou."

Ryuuen's announcement came as a surprise to the rest of the table.

"I've known that she's the VIP since the second day of the test."

"If that's true, you would've turned traitor early on."

Horikita was less than thrilled by this unexpected turn of events.

"Unlike a certain someone-"

Ryuuen said that looking directly at me.

"-I just prefer to take my time and enjoy things. You looked like you were trying so hard that I decided to play along. Don't worry, the exam was supposed to be chaotic, and Class A are the ones who'll suffer the most."

"What did you-"

Ding

All our phones beeped simultaneously which could only mean one thing. I looked at the results on my phone, and a few things caught my eye. My answer was obviously correct, as was Kouenji's. However, the four groups that answered simultaneously near the end had also all gotten the third outcome. The final results were as follows:

Class A: -200 class points, +2,000,000 private points
Class B: No Change class points, +2,500,000 private points
Class C: +150 class points, +5,500,000 private points
Class D: +50 class points, +3,000,000 private points

"How-"

"Ooh, you seem at a loss for words, Suzune. I simply figured out the rules of the test and used that to target Class A. I'm afraid to tell you that I'll be going after you lot next, and I won't stop until I tear you to shreds."

Feeling satisfied with the results and the looks of defeat on my classmates' faces, Ryuuen walked away. Looking at everyone around me, I came to a sort of realization. Some people, like Horikita, are really giving it their all to reach Class A, to the point where it's their sole purpose during their time here.

I, on the other hand, am simply content with enjoying my years at this school and making up for lost time. Of course, I'm still doing my best to help the class improve its ranking, but whether we graduate from Class A or Class D won't heavily impact my experience. High school is only three years of our lives, so looking back at it years down the line with regret and thinking what could've been just because you didn't finish in the top class feels incredibly nonsensical. Plus, if someone needs to finish in Class A in order to have a good future, then I'd seriously question whether they deserve to finish in Class A in the first place.

The others began talking strategy and thinking of how Ryuuen pulled it all off. I decided to withdraw back to my cabin for the night, as it was getting pretty late.

We were back at the dorms after a couple of weeks off-campus, and I already miss the cruise ship. Don't get me wrong, the campus has plenty of great facilities, but being able to relax on a cruise ship and not have to worry about money is a whole different experience. Well, considering I'd be getting a sizeable amount of money from the VIP challenge at the start of the month, I guess I can't complain too much. Plus, today should be pretty interesting anyway.
