"Hmm, I wonder who got me my present."

"Yes, truly a mystery."

"Let's see what you got me, Hisashi."

It's finally the moment of truth. I'm pretty proud of my choice, and it got Honami's stamp of approval as well, so I really hope Maya likes it.

It's at times like these that my ability to read people has the potential to do more harm than good. If Maya doesn't like the gift, I'll know right away even if she says she loves it.

She's opening the gift.

Now, she's checking the blouse.

"Wow, Hisashi, it's great! Did you pick it out yourself?"

"Yeah. I did bring Honami along to give me her opinion, but I'm the one who chose this blouse."

"Thanks, it's perfect!"

A sincere thank you. Mission accomplished. Now...

"Okay, looks like it's finally my turn now. So, what do you have in store for me, Maya?"

"Here! I'm sure you're gonna love it!"

"You seem awfully confident."

Considering how enthusiastic Maya looks, it must be one hell of a present.

"Of course I am! After all, I made it myself."

A homemade present, huh. Now I'm really curious to see what's inside the wrapping. Judging from the texture and the weight, it must be some sort of clothing.

Without further ado, I began unwrapping my gift until it was fully revealed.

Woah.

It was a really nice purple hoodie, and the fabric felt incredibly smooth to touch. I don't even have to wear it to know it's probably super comfortable.

"Maya, this is great! And, you made that yourself?"

"Yeah. I'm pretty decent when it comes to making clothes since I've been doing it for a while."

"I'd call that a little more than just 'decent'."

"Yeah, Maya, you did a really good job with this one!"

"Thanks, Satsuki. Oh, Hisashi! You didn't see the best part yet. Look at the bottom of the hoodie."

I glanced towards the bottom of the hoodie as instructed by Maya and noticed a pattern.

Wait.

Are those-

"It's cats! I know you really like them, so I thought I'd incorporate that into the design somehow. Do you like it? I was afraid it might come off as a little childish, so I wasn't too sure whether to include it or not, but I think it turned out pretty well in the end."

Perfection.

This hoodie just became ten times better.

"I'm glad you decided to go through with this design. It's perfect."

"That's good to hear. I guess that's it for the gift exchange, then. I know it's technically not Christmas yet, but we probably won't see each other tomorrow, so Merry Christmas everyone!"

After exchanging gifts, we hung around a bit longer since we still had some time before we needed to leave the karaoke room and then separated.

On my way to my dorm, I took another look at Maya's present.
