I went up to the deck to find Ayanokouji and Horikita in the middle of a conversation. I assume they're talking about his involvement in the island challenge, so I decided to interrupt them.

"Hey, Ayanokouji-kun. If you're telling Horikita-san about your plan back on the island, I'd like to also listen in. After all, I covered for you back there, so I think you owe me at least this much."

"I figured you'd want to know too. This makes it easier than having to tell you both separately."

Ayanokouji proceeded to tell us all about his plan. He'd started planning things before we'd even set foot on the island, scouting different spots while we were still on board of the ship. On the island, he visited the different spots and found out which classes occupied them as well as the identity of class A's leader. As for class C's leader, he used Ibuki to figure out their identity and had Horikita retire so he'd be our class's leader in order to trick class C.

"Jeez. How do you even begin to come up with all that?"

I can't even fathom what kind of life he's led to achieve this kind of thinking.

"There is one thing that's bothering me, though."

"Which is?"

"Be honest with me. Would you have figured out Ibuki-san was a spy on your own? Did I even accomplish anything?"

I was pretty proud of myself for seeing through Ibuki, but there's no way someone like him wouldn't have been able to do the same.

"To be frank, yes, I would have. However, it would've taken me a bit more time, so your discovery did help buy me more time to come up with the plan."

He wasn't lying. It kinda sucks, but my efforts weren't completely in vain at least. That aside, I can now finally enjoy summer vacation without having to deal with another exam.

____________________

The past three days have been great. I've been able to try out a variety of fancy dishes without worrying about paying for anything, and my roommates are usually out and about, so I have the entire cabin to myself when I need some alone time. I haven't really hung out with any classmates, but I've gone to a few places with Honami, so it's not like I'm completely isolating myself from the world on this trip.

Ding.

It's pretty unusual for me to receive any messages. I looked at my phone's screen to find a notification from the school. This was immediately followed by an announcement on the loudspeaker that we should have received an important email.

"I don't like where this is going."

I opened the email to be greeted by the following message:

"A special test will begin soon.

You have been assigned to Room 205 and need to be there at 19:00.

Being late to the meeting by more than 10 minutes will result in a penalty.

Note that it takes about 20 minutes to reach the area so plan ahead."

Great, another exam. It hasn't even been a week since the last one, and this is supposed to be our summer vacation.

Sudou, who's one of my roommates, entered the cabin shortly after.

"Did you also receive a message, Sudou-kun?"

"Yeah, I've gotta be in Room 206 at 18:00. You?"

"Room 205 at 19:00."

We'd been given different times and locations, and neither of us had been given further instructions. I guess I'll have to wait for the meeting to start before I can know what this exam is all about.
