We were about halfway through our stay on the island, and things were starting to look slightly better. There was no arguing amongst ourselves, and we were doing well in terms of nutrition and points.

"Alright, everyone. We need to split up into groups and look for provisions."

At Hirata's request, the class split into groups to look for food, wood, and anything that might prove useful. Well, most of the class did. I've never been a fan of groupwork since I've never had anyone to group up with. I considered teaming up with either Ayanokouji, Horikita, or Hirata, but they've all already formed their groups. I guess there's nothing I can do about that.

"Morimoto-kun, do you not have a group?"

Hirata noticed that I'm still standing there by myself.

"Umm, no, not yet."

"In that case, why don't you join Satou-san, Matsushita-san, and Shinohara-san? They're still missing one person."

Considering almost everyone else had already left to gather supplies, I'm not really in any position to refuse.

"Okay."

"Umm, Hirata. It's fine, we can go look for stuff by ourselves. We don't need a fourth member."

I'm being kicked out of the group before even joining. Fantastic...

"All the other groups are made up of four or five people, so I'd feel better if you also formed a group with this many members. Plus, if he doesn't join you, Morimoto-kun will be all alone, and I'd rather not have someone wandering off on their own."

"I guess that's true. Okay."

With Hirata's persuasion, we were off to gather some fruit. I know from previous observations that these three are close friends, so it's not surprising to see them chatting away. Of course, I didn't really fit into the conversation, so I just kept to myself on the way.

We eventually reached an open area with a few fruit trees scattered around.

"Wow! There are so many fruits. But, how are we supposed to reach them?"

At Satou's remark, all three girls turned towards me.

"Yes?"

I already know what they're implying, but I decided to feign ignorance hoping they wouldn't be so tactless.

"Morimoto, you're a guy, so can you, like, climb the trees and collect the fruit?"

Of course...

"What will the three of you be doing, then?"

"Well, we could collect the low-hanging fruit and collect some wood. We were tasked with searching for food, but getting wood as well won't hurt."

Matsushita made a valid point, surprisingly. If they're not just slacking off, I guess I could do the climbing.

"In that case, sure."

"Thanks!"

Even though I know their thanks are partially selfish, it still felt good to be thanked by three cute girls.

"Aahhh!"

While we were collecting provisions, Satou let out a surprised scream. I turned back to find her on the ground with two guys standing in front of her. One of them I recognized as Ishizaki due to his role in Sudou's case. I don't know who the big guy with the shades is, but I'm assuming he's also a class C student.

"Hey! What did you do to Satou, you brutes?!"

Matsushita and Shinohara were justifiably angry at the two guys.
