As soon as the three girls saw each other the next day, Maddy thought it would be a good idea to tell the other two about the dream she had the other night.
"It was strange because, I've never met this dude in my life and it felt so real." She said as they walked to their class.

"And another strange thing is that, I never have dreams, ever. So having one, but having it feel so real freaked me out. I just thought you girls should know in case you've had the same thing happen. She said and the other girls shook their heads showing that they had no idea what she was talking about.

School had finished and the three girls were walking out of the building so that Sophie could talk to the others.
"Ugh! I hate my step-mother!" Sophie groaned as they walked out of the gates.
"Whoa, whoa, what?" Maddy asked from beside her and Sophie looked at her as if she was going crazy.

"There's an opening at the factory where she works, so she's making me quit school to work there and bring in more money." Sophia said, never once letting her basket full of books leave her hands.

"Then I can quit to. Can she get me a job there with you?" Agatha said as soon as she heard the words come out of Sophie's mouth. This wasn't something Maddy felt she was comfortable with saying as she hadn't been around them long enough for that so she stayed quiet for the most part.

"And then what?" Sophie said and the three girls dramatically stopped walking.
"We fade into this town like everyone else?" She asked as if it wasn't what was going to happen.
"No guys, my mom said I have to do something important." She started talking again and so the three began to walk again.

"Something that matters so, I'm leaving..." Sophie said and turned to the two girls to talk to, mainly Agatha as Maddy already knew this. Sophie promised that she wouldn't say anything about her wanting to leave as she didn't want Agatha to hate Maddy once Sophie had left the village.

Even if Maddy was possibly going with her.
"Tonight." Sophie finished and just stared at her best friends. Agatha looked at Maddy for some help with her statement but knew that she probably wouldn't get anything out of her.

"Wait Sophie, you've never even set foot outside of Gavaldon. You don't even know what's out there." Agatha was getting louder, trying to get Sophie to stay.
"Yeah, none of us really do." Maddy butted in, just to let them know that she was paying attention and that Agatha wasn't talking to a brick wall.

"That's the point you guys. You know nothing can ever happen to me as long as I'n stuck here. I just, can't settle for an ordinary life. I won't do it." Sophie argued and then went to sit down while Agatha just stood and stared at where she stood for a few seconds before looking towards Maddy.

"Did you know about this?" She asked and was getting angry at the girl, for barging in on the friendship and ruining it, even if it was something that she wanted in the first place.
"I'm sorry Agatha." Maddy apologised so quietly that it was barely enough to hear, proving that she did in fact know about what Sophie was going to say.

Agatha really didn't know what to do so she just kind of sat next to Sophie and the two were in silence for a little while, until Agatha thought about something that could change Sophie's mind.
"Hey look." She said and grabbed a tiara made out of sticks.

Maddy felt as if she was intruding on the two girls so she decided to go back home to get a few books that she needed to return. The girl said a quick goodbye to the others, which they barely acknowledged and she walked away quickly, making sure not to bump into anyone or just talk to anyone in general.

Once Maddy was home, she ran straight to her room and grabbed the Cinderella book as well as every other first edition books she owned, or had in her bookshelf at that moment in time. There was always two things that were the exact same.
