With Octavia leaning most of her weight on me, the two of us peer up at Finn and Jasper on top of the large rock above us. Held tight in his hand, Finn holds on the thick vine we stumbled upon that will help us make it across the river. There was no way that we would be able to swim across the river, not with that man-eating snake in there.
Jasper beams down at me, slightly bouncing on his toes. I can tell he is excited to do this, yet a little nervous like the rest of us. My biggest fear is that the vine will break right as one of us is flying over the river.
"You wanted to go first." Clarke says to Finn, who tugs on the vine once again to test to make sure it will hold his weight. "Now, quit stalling. Mount Weather awaits."
Jasper leans toward him. "Just hang on til the apogee and you'll be fine."
"The apogee like the Indians, right?"
"Apogee, not apache."
"He knows." Clarke says.
"Today, Finn." I say as he tugs on the vine again.
Finn salutes me with two fingers. "Aye, aye, captain."
I roll my eyes. I suck in a breath when Finn takes a step back, preparing himself to fly across the river.
"Wait." Jasper holds up a hand before he can get a running start.
I frown up at my brother. "Come on, Jasper!"
Jasper chuckles, glancing down at me before refocusing on Finn. "Let me. I can do it."
Finn hands over the vine. "Knew there was a badass in there somewhere."
I unwrap my arm from around Octavia to climb up on the rocks they are on. I pat my brother on the shoulder once I reach them. "You got this."
Jasper grins. Although, his smile doesn't last long when he looks back over to the side of the river, where he has to go. I don't blame him for being nervous. I would be to if I was going first.
Finn pats him on his arm. "Hey, it's okay to be afraid, Jasper. The trick is not fighting it."
Jasper glances at me, while regripping the vine. "See you on the other side, sis."
I break out in a grin. Unable to control myself, I wrap my arms around his side, simply because I'm finally reunited with him. Jasper chuckles, but wraps his arm around me quickly. I back away, beaming. "Sorry. I don't think I'm completely over the fact that I've finally reunited with my brother."
Finn gently tugs me backwards. Jasper nods at the two of us. He tightly holds on to the vine before running and jumping off of the rocks. I throw my hands up in the air, screaming for joy. His body soars over the river with ease thanks to the vine. His own laughter and yells are heard clearly as he reaches the other side.
Jasper releases the vine a little too soon and ends up falling face first on the ground. The vine swings back to us, but my concern is on Jasper. I jump down from the rocks to watch my brother climb back to his feet. I laugh out of relief beside Octavia and Monty. Finn rushes down to us, grabbing onto the vine.
Jasper throws his arms up, shouting in victory. I jump up and down, happily. All of us shout out in joy, thrilled that this actually worked.
I pat Clarke's shoulder. "That's my brother." I giggle.
Clarke just laughs at me and I even hear a chuckle come from Octavia. Clarke looks back towards Jasper. "You did it, Jasper!"
Finn places his hand on my back about to hand over the vine. "Let's go, Princess. You're up."
