"Why the hell are we even going back to the drop ship?" I demand, a bit of an edge heard in my voice. "We need to go find Jasper."
Clarke merely glances back at me for a second. "Look, I get that you are worried for Jasper- we all are- but there's no way that we can do anything at the moment. Octavia is hurt."
I shut my mouth, realizing what she is hinting at. She doesn't want to loudly announce that Octavia would just slow us down. I look back at Octavia to see her leaning most of her weight on Monty, who has been helping her walk through the forest. Octavia gives me a weak smile just before I turn back around. I would go looking for Jasper on my own, but I wouldn't get far by myself. My eyes flicker over to Finn. I need him and Clarke to help me.
Shouting and hollering comes from up ahead. All of us glance around at each other before picking up some speed. The noise is coming from the drop ship. Clarke, Finn, and I rush forward, a little worried of what the commotion is all about.
"Wells!" Clarke shouts.
I race through the trees, looking down the small incline to where everyone else is. A large crowd has formed around Bellamy, Wells, and Murphy. Wells and Murphy seem to be in some kind of fight by the way Wells is holding a makeshift knife to Murphy's throat. This would seem like a one way fight, except Murphy is holding his own makeshift knife in his hand.
"Let him go!" Clarke rushes over to the two.
Wells' face is harden with anger. He roughly pushes Murphy to the ground. Murphy stumbles towards the ground, but quickly pops right back up. I rush over to everyone, gripping my backpack in one hand.
"Whoa, hey!" Bellamy steps in front of Murphy before he could lunge at Wells. "Enough, Murphy." He releases his hold on him. "Octavia!"
I look over my shoulder just in time to see Monty and Octavia slowly making their way over. Bellamy rushes over to his sister. I quickly look away, jaw clenched. I refuse to show any signs of weakness to the people here. I know I can only trust Clarke, Finn, Monty, and Octavia. The rest would probably label me as someone weak if I show how upset I am about Jasper's disappearance.
"Are you all right?" Bellamy asks her.
"Yeah."
"Where's the food?" Bellamy demands.
I angle my body to face him, scoffing. Glad to know he cares so much about what happened to us. He can clearly see that his sister has been hurt. Bellamy doesn't even bother to ask what happened to her. Oh, no. He only cares about the food.
"We didn't make it to Mount Weather." Finn sists down on a log.
"We were attacked." Clarke rushes to say.
"Attacked?" Wells looks down at her. "By what?"
Finn shakes his head. "Not what. Who. It turns out, when the last man from the ground died on the Ark, he wasn't the last Grounder."
"It's true. Everything we thought we knew about the ground is wrong. There are people here, survivors. The good news is, that means we can survive. Radiation won't kill us."
People start to whisper over what Clarke just said. I keep my eyes on the ground, listening as everyone starts to get a little worried. They have no idea what is out there.
"Yeah, the bad news is the Grounders will." Finn adds.
Wells looks around amongs the five of us. "Where's the kid with the goggles?"
I clench my fists by my side. "Jasper was hit." I look up at everyone, who looks slightly panicky. "They took him."
My bottom lip finds a place between my teeth. No matter how much I want to cry, I will remain strong on the outside. There is no place to show weakness here, not in front of all of these people.
