My body has been dozing in and out of sleep since the rockets were sent to the sky in hopes that the Ark would see them. No one deserved to die. With Raven's help, we were able to send the rockets built from pieces of her dropship. All we could do was hope that we sent the rockets up in time.
The last thing I remember is falling asleep by the fire while everyone went to their tents. I had a tent with Octavia, but I just felt like being alone for a bit. The thought of my parents possibly being part of the group killed if we didn't act fast enough terrified me. Of course, I only saw them when I was a baby. I don't remember anything about them.
Something hard nudges my shoulder and I feel myself stir awake. I sleepily rub my eyes while sitting up to see Bellamy standing above me with a torch. Dirt and dead leaves stick to my clothes and skin before I quickly brush them off.
"Have you seen Octavia?" He demands.
"What? No." I sleepily climb to my feet, making sure I knocked all of them dirt off of me. "Unless she was in my dreams without me knowing about it-"
"It's not funny." Bellamy rudely snaps.
I frown at his harsh tone. Is there ever a time when he's not being a dick?
"Octavia is missing." Bellamy grabs my arm and forcefully makes me walk in the opposite direction of the fire. "And I need your help. Everyone already took a weapon and we're doing a search party."
Okay, wow. Bellamy is being serious here. Octavia wouldn't just up and leave camp like this. Sure, Octavia tends to break the rules, but it's still night. She wouldn't go off on her own this late and then not return.
I yank my arm out of his hold once we reach a group of people, who are all staring up at the sky. Our eyes follow their gazes to the night sky to see some sort of meteor shower.
"It's so beautiful." Someone comments from the crowd.
Jasper comes up to stand beside me.
Realization dawns on me. "They didn't work."
"They didn't see the flares." Raven joins the rest of us.
Bellamy side glances at me. "A meteor shower tells you that?"
I shake my head at him. I feel Jasper's warm hand slide into mine when he realizes what it is. "It's not a meteor shower, it's a funeral." I swallow the lump in my throat. "Hundred of bodies being returned to the Earth from the Ark."
"This is what it looks like from the other side." Clarke adds with a sullen look. She turns to Raven, who is right behind her. "They didn't get our message."
Bellamy hangs his head and turns away.
Raven storms forward at Bellamy with fire in her eyes. "This is all because of you!"
Clarke and Finn rush after her to stop her from doing any damage to him. Oddly enough, I find myself moving to stand closer to Bellamy.
Bellamy holds up two fingers towards her as he talks, "I helped you find the radio."
"Yeah, after you jacked it from my pod and trashed it!" Raven shouts back to him, restrained by Clarke and Finn.
I hold a hand out to keep her from getting any closer, "Yeah, he knows. Now, he has to live with it."
Bellamy looks from the sky to all of us. "All I know is that my sister is out there and I'm gonna find her." His head turns in my direction. "You coming or what?"
"Yeah." I nod my head.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Bellamy raises his voice to speak to everyone else. "Move out!"
