Being a leader had its downfalls when you wanted to be in charge of a large group of people. Even more so, when there were people that didn't agree with the things you did. Murphy was that person that didn't like what Bellamy and I did as leaders.
I never expected something like this to happen. How could we have known that Murphy would pull something like this? I knew we shouldn't have trusted him back into camp so easily. Bellamy trusted him enough to give him a job, to not kick him back out like we should have done.
Maybe if we had done that, we wouldn't be in this situation we are in now. The one where Murphy has a gun pointed at Bellamy. The one where I'm tied to the ladder with a gag in my mouth. The one where I'm not sure how to get the two of us out of this situation without a bullet in either of our heads.
Bellamy's eyes bore into mine from across the room. The moment he set foot into the dropship, our eyes haven't left each other's. He's furious that Murphy didn't let me go. I don't think he expected to see me in this position, especially with a gag in my mouth.
We both know that there's only two things that Murphy wants; power and revenge. Unfortunately, the only way he could get either of those includes having Bellamy and I inside the dropship under his commands.
I flinch when Murphy presses his finger down on the trigger, shooting in a random direction away from the three of us. Bellamy's eyes briefly flick down to me before they snap back to Murphy. Murphy's behavior is unpredictable right now. We have no idea of what to expect from him.
"-- that's good," Murphy comments, returning the gun's aim back on Bellamy, where he stood near the curtains. "Then do what I said."
Part of me wants to tell Bellamy not to do it, to rebel against Murphy's orders. I know what will happen if he does. Someone out there needs to figure out how to help us. Jasper wouldn't just sit around and wait for the door to the dropship open. He would want to save me.
Murphy wants revenge. That's why he wants Bellamy to make a noose. He's doing exactly what the camp did do him to Bellamy.
"Bellamy? Wren?" Octavia's voice comes through over the radio in Murphy's pocket. Her voice is frantic and worried. She's scared for the two of us being in here. "Are you okay?"
Jasper must have snatched the radio out of her grasp because his voice comes through the radio next, "Wren! Wren?"
My eyes flutter shut at his panicked voice. I wanted to be able to yell that I was okay, only the gag kept me from doing so. He saw how scared I was when we came down the ladder. I know I tried to mask my fear when he was being dragged to the door, but he knows me too well. Jasper knows I'm scared.
Murphy switches the gun into his left hand and fishes for the radio in his pocket with his right. "You want them to know you are both alive?" He points to the seat belts he laid out in front of Bellamy before. "Start tying."
With the gag in my mouth, I can't call out to Murphy to try and calm him down, or even think of a way to distract him enough for Bellamy to get the rifle out of his hands. The fact that I am restricted from helping Bellamy is killing me on the inside. There's nothing I can do with this gag in my mouth and my hands tied behind my back, except sit and watch everything happen.
That's not who I am, though. I fight until I do the right thing. I fight because it's not like me to give up.
"Bellamy! Do you copy?" Octavia shouts through the radio.
The radio is outstretched in Murphy's hand as he presses down on the button, nodding at Bellamy to answer her.
"We're fine." Bellamy bends over to start tying the seat belts together. He glimpses in my direction once more. "Just a misfire. Now, stop worrying about us and get back to work, all of you..."
