"-- think I want to go after them, too?" Bellamy's voice carries to the second level of the dropship.
My head cranes around to stare at the open hatch that leads to the ground level. I've been waiting for my brother to come up here, so I can help him make gunpowder. Bellamy didn't want to go out and save our friends when they needed us the most. He couldn't understand why I thought he was being stupid for not wanting to go out there, and bring Clarke, Monty, and Finn back to camp.
Last night, when they went off looking for us, Monty went missing, too. No one knew where he went or if he was okay.
I needed to keep myself busy to keep myself from yelling at Bellamy. Jasper offered to teach me out to make gunpowder and I was more than grateful to have a chance to spend more time with him.
"If it was you out there, you think Monty, Clarke, Finn, or even Wren would hide behind these walls?" Jasper responds.
I carefully walk closer to the hatch to hear the two of them better. If I make too much noise, Bellamy will know I'm eavesdropping. I look over the side of it, able to catch part of Jasper's head from this angle.
"No, they'd go after me." Bellamy replies. "Then they'd be dead, too."
Jasper looks away from him with a slightly annoyed look on his face.
"I am doing what I think is right for the group."
Jasper walks out of view while saying, "It's funny, you didn't think that way when Octavia went missing." He returns back to the ladder. "Or last night when my sister was missing. You were all ready to go out there and find her. I'm glad that you wanted to go find her, but she seemed to be the only one you cared about finding. What about Clarke, Finn, or Myles?"
I gawk at the scene unfolding below me, taken aback. No one told me about that last night. Why would he only be worried about me? Clarke and Finn are just as important. Jasper and I actually talked about sneaking out of camp to have our own search party for our friends, but he needs to make more gunpowder, putting our plans on hold.
"Where are you going?" Bellamy demands.
Jasper holds his hand up in a mock salute. "More gunpowder for your minefield...sir." He places his hands on the rungs of the ladder to climb up.
I walk to the other side of the room, pretending like I didn't just hear them talking. Jasper's eyes settle on me beside the table against the far wall. "Hey." I quietly mumble, eyes drifting to the hatch behind him.
"You heard all of that, didn't you?" Jasper walks over to the table.
I nod, "Yeah." My back presses against the wall while I watch him pour gunpowder into a container. I cross my arms over my chest. "I should have just went looking for Clarke and Finn after I left Lincoln's."
Jasper shakes his head, "No, because you would have been weapon-less. The Grounders would have killed you."
"They could be dead right now, Jazz." I briefly shut my eyes. "I'm grateful that Lincoln saved me, but I feel bad because we have no idea what's happening to them right now. Bellamy is just being stupid, as per usual."
"Let's just go." He waves me to follow him after grabbing the smaller container of gunpowder.
I stroll past him and begin to climb down the ladder. Hopefully, by now, Bellamy left the dropship and we don't have to deal with him. Jasper closely follows me down the ladder, not giving me a chance to get to the bottom yet.
"-- say hi to Colin for me."
My head snaps around at Murphy's voice and the sound of plastic. A hand flies up to grab Jasper's leg to stop him from climbing down anymore when I see Murphy suffocate Myles with a bag. The blood drains from my body. Bellamy is gone from the room, leaving only the two of us with a deadly Murphy.
