You lay in darkness, for what could be hours or days. What eventually brings you back to your body is this sensation of warmth flowing through your limbs. You feel light, happy, like no problems could ever plague your peaceful mind.
You are only granted a few minutes of this peaceful serenity before your brain waves assume their regular pattern, and your memory comes flooding back to you.
That's right, your mission. You were fighting a curse, or failing at least.
How long have you been out?
There is something wet dripping on your neck.
You try to shift yourself, but your body feels like a lead weight stuck to the floor.
You dare to open your eyes.
At first, you're convinced that you've died and gone to heaven, for your whole body is surrounded by this oddly comforting golden light.
Beyond the golden light, you recognize the grey floor of the detention center. The smell of rot begins to fill your nose and you realize that no, you are not in heaven; you are still very much in hell.
You turn your head and soon discover the source of all your mysteries.
A creature towers over you, its round body pressing heavily into your back; its long tongue lolling and spilling drool onto your neck. The golden light also seems to be coming from it. It flows off of its body and into yours in effortless waves, purging you with its protective grace.
After the initial panic and confusion, you begin to recognize the form—the snake-like head, now half its previous size; the speckled skin, now a soft shade of yellow; and the long black tongue, now a light pink. From here, you also notice a lizard-like tail you didn't before.
You gasp. It's the curse you were fighting earlier.
You roll over to face it. As you do, it lifts its weight off your body and wags its tail like an excited puppy.
"Are you the same guy from before?" you ask. Your voice comes out as a croak.
The 'curse' responds with a sneeze and resumes wagging its bottom.
Looking at it now, you can't help but find it slightly endearing.
You place a gentle hand on its cool head. "Hm, I guess you're not so bad to look at after all," you say.
The curse whines and bows its head, almost as if apologizing.
You laugh. How bizarre.
"I might be going crazy," you say to yourself.
You turn back onto your stomach and drop your head on your arms. The light feels good, every minute it flows into your body you feel your muscles getting stronger and stronger. You want to bask in it just a little longer. And then you remember...
Fushiguro, Kugisaki, Itadori! The last time you saw them you'd all been in a rather precarious situation. Please be alive!!
Not a moment later, your prayers are answered by the sound of hollow footsteps running toward you.
"[M/C] !!!"
You raise your head.
Megumi stands in front of you, looking panicked and disheveled, but otherwise alright. Beside him, is a large black dog, the yin to the yang you'd met earlier, and beside it, nestled in the mouth of a frog, is an unhappy-looking Nobara.
