Chapter 22 including the fight with Jogo and the kiss from Gojo's perspective.
Gojo Satoru was nervous. A sentence you'd never expect to see strung together before.
It surprised him himself. He hadn't been subtle about his advances toward the girl, but now, when the moment was right, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Perhaps when it came down to it, Gojo Satoru really was scared of the real thing.
Regardless, fear was something he wasn't used to, and that annoyed him. He didn't know how to act, or what he should do with himself. To make matters worse, the woman of his affections seemed to have gotten over her usual tentativeness and was now staring directly at him. He tried to direct her attention toward the pond of lotus flowers in front of them, but her curious, hot, blinking eyes kept making their way back to him.
He could see her preparing to speak.
Just when those love-affirming words were about to leave her mouth, Gojo sensed it—the presence of a curse speeding their way.
"Gojo, I–"
The greatest jujutsu sorcerer had only a few seconds to decide what to do about the girl he loved.
He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the middle of the path.
"I'm sorry," he said, as he began drawing the teleportation circle around her.
Normally, he wouldn't feel so panicked. There was no threat that Gojo couldn't handle. But for some reason, the thought of even the slightest amount of harm coming to M/C caused a rage of emotions to light up through his body.
He clasped his hands together and activated the spell, watching her face flutter with confusion before disappearing.
He regretted not having a chance to explain, but he would try to make this as quick as possible so that he could find the courage to listen to what she had to say.
"Now then," he said to the approaching object. "Who are you?"
The curse landed on the pavement beside him with an earth-shattering thud. He was immediately rewarded for his decision to send M/C away, for not a second after the curse landed did the world light up in flames.
Gojo was quick with his instincts. His infinity—which he had kept turned off around M/C for the purpose of receiving her sneak attacks—he quickly turned on now.
The flames engulfed him, but his shield of infinity caused them to stop centimetres away from his face. Normally, this would be his favourite part. He would revel in the moment when the flames ceased, and his opponent would be looking at him with utter shock at seeing him unharmed. But now all he was feeling was hot annoyance at the curse's impeccable timing.
He heard the curse cackling on the other side of the flames, muttering something about "weak humans." This only pissed Gojo off even more.
"Who are you... calling weak?"
The flames dispersed.
There it was—the shock as he'd expected. Gojo barely acknowledged it. All he was thinking about was getting this fight over as quickly as possible.
He took that moment to assess the situation. It was definitely a high-grade, with a high level of intelligence to match, and it seemed to have no regards for how much destruction it caused—as was expected of a curse. This would be too big of a fight to have in the city.
"That wasn't very nice of you," Gojo said, running his plan around in his head, "You burned all the lotus flowers. A lot of people... will be upset."
The cursed still looked at him in confusion, trying to wrap his head around how the man survived one of his strongest attacks.
