I sighed as we pulled up to my grandma's house. I hate coming here. I looked at Silas.
Silas - what's wrong?
He took Salem out her car seat and gave her to Scott.
Evie - I don't wanna go in there.
Michael - Evie I know what happened the last time but they said he wouldn't be here.
Silas - who?
Evie - our uncle Byron.
Scott handed Salem to me.
Silas - y'all can go in the house. I'll stay with her until she's ready.
They went in the house.
Silas - you wanna talk about it?
Evie - no.
Silas - okay whenever you're ready baby.
I stepped out the car and Silas grabbed Salem's bag.
Silas - where's Sy'Rai?
Evie - she went in with your dad.
I walked in the house with Silas behind me.
My grandma walked over and hugged me.
Rosa - hi Evie.
Evie - hey grandma
She introduced herself to Silas.
Silas - I'm Silas and I'm sure you've met my little sister , Sy'Rai already.
She looked at Salem.
Rosa - who's this little one?
Evie - this is our daughter Salem.
My aunts walked over.
Celine - Daughter? I thought that was Scott's baby.
Evie - no she's ours.
Whitney - is there something wrong with her? Since you are an addict.
Silas - she's been doing good. Nothing is wrong with my child. She was clean the entire pregnancy
Celine - Michael , you allowed your daughter to stay with this boy?
Michael - yes. I didn't expect for her to get pregnant but-
Whitney - boy how old are you?
Silas- I'm 18.
Whitney - and you got a damn baby. You still in high school.
Silas - we're graduating next month. Lady you don't need judge me and my family because we're good.
Rosa - she's adorable. Can I hold her?
Silas - nope.
He took Salem from me and went to go sit down.
He don't give a fuck about nothing.

I walked out the bathroom and came face to face with my aunt Celine.
Celine - you know your mother would not approve of you having that baby.
Evie - my mom isn't here , is she?
Celine - you know what? You're not the only one still grieving. I lost my baby sister.
Evie - and she was my mom. You're only saying she wouldn't approve because you don't.
