I looked up at Evie as she called my name. The past 5 years have been good. We moved back to New Orleans and Evie has been sober for ten years now. Sy'Rai is 16, Emmy is 12, Solana is 8 and Elias is 7.
We moved to be closer to Scott and Liv since something happened to them , being around the time Liv got pregnant with their second child , Michaela. She was born premature so me and Evie had to take care of Liv and the baby while Scott was a work.

Silas - How old are you?
Jack - 17
I looked at Evie.
Silas - you ain't 17. His beard longer than mine
Evie - shut up. You had facial hair in high school when we started dating. I just make you cut the shit now. Leave them alone

I laughed as Evie took Si outside. Jack looked at me.
Rai - my brother is harmless.
Jack - you told me he was crazy

Jack - I wasn't planning on doing that. So they're like your parents?
Rai - basically yeah. Silas been taking care of me for as long as I can remember and when Evie came into the picture , everything fell in place. Those two have been together since I was 6.
Jack - where's your mom?
Rai - I don't know and I don't care.
I am honestly so grateful that my brother met Evie because I didn't really connect with any of the other girls she brought home and with Evie. It was easy.

Evie laid her head on my chest.
Evie - don't look in the house. Give them privacy
Silas - we have never had privacy because we always had a kid around
Evie - we can have all the alone time we want when they go off to college. I trust Sy'Rai.

Before meeting Evie , I felt like my life didn't have any excitement , being with her isn't easy but I don't think I could ever be without her. I thought just being friends would be enough for me at first until I realized I was in love with her and watching her struggle throughout that time period in our lives , made me understand and love her even more.
Evie - what Silas?
Silas - I was just thinking
Evie - about?
Silas - us. All we've been through. You're 10 years sober
Evie - and I got you and Rai to thank for that.
She kissed me.
Silas - and I got you to thank you sticking by me. Even through my bullshit.
I don't think I know another woman that would put up with me for this long , except Evie and I glad she's the person who given my life that euphoric feeling because before her I was drifting and won't trade that feeling for the world.
