Silas Montgomery

I ran to Evie holding her in my arm. My eyes watered.

Silas - Sy'Rai call an ambulance.

My mom and Trevante walked out.

I looked down and saw she was shot in her stomach.

Evie's eyes started to close

Silas - we're not doing that. Keep them open.

Evie - I love you

She smiled.

She's not dying tonight.  We got so much stuff we haven't done yet.

I sat with the girls in the waiting room, trying to calm Salem and Sy'Rai down.  I'm honestly more panicked than they are , but trying to calms won for him.

Silas - Emmy mommy is gonna be okay.

Salem -  her bleed everywhere. The lady did it.

Sy'Rai - we should move Si. Mom shouldn't  know where we are.

Silas - I know

I looked and saw Michael, Olivia , Omari and  Prescott.

Michael - what happened

Silas - my mom shot Evie.

Omari got out of Liv's arms and went over to comfort Sy'Rai and Salem.

Silas - I'm sorry.

Michael - it's not your fault.

Silas - I'm supposed to be protecting her and didn't.

Michael - Silas she'll be okay. If I know my daughter and I do, she'll push through.

The doctor walked out.

Doctor - Mr. Montgomery

Silas - yes

Doctor - good news is that the surgery was successful. We were able to remove the bullet and along with a lot of metal fragments.

Silas - what's the bad news. I have a feeling-

Doctor - bad news is that when she got shot , she fell back and hit her head and she's in a coma

Silas - can I see her.

She nodded and I followed her into the room.

I looked at Evie and my eyes watered. This is all my fault.

Salem - mommy is sleeping daddy

Silas - yep mommy is sleeping

I looked at the doctor.

Silas - is she gonna wake up

Doctor - we don't know. It be days, months, or years before she wakes up.

Sy'Rai walked over and touched Evie.

Sy'Rai - if you wake up Evie, we'll be good.

Sy'Rai started to cry.

Sy'Rai - it's not fair Silas. We need her.

Silas - I know Rai.

I walked out with the girls and tried to calm down Sy'Rai.

Sy'Rai ai - Mom needs to be dead . She did it. She killed daddy and now she's trying to take Evie from us. She needs to leave us alone.

I hugged Sy'Rai and she cried into my chest.

Sy'Rai - that's not fair. Evie didn't do anything. She loves us.

Salem - Rai , mommy is gonna wake up. It's okay. Her just sleeping.

Michael walked out.

Michael - Silas you can stay with us

Silas - I'm staying here with her

Michael - we can take the girls tonight and they can stay with us

Silas - okay

I walked back in the room after Prescott, Olivia, and Michael left with Omari and the girls. I looked at Evie

Silas - hey baby

I grabbed her hand and kissed it.

Silas - normally I know what to say to you , but I can't find the words. All I know is that I need you and Sy'Rai and Salem need you. I should've protected you.

I'm glad she's still here even if she can't wake up right now. I don't think my heart could take it if she died.

Silas- I want you to know that I'll be here everyday. I won't leave you Geneviève.

I looked down at my phone.

My mom is going to pay for this.
