"We're back" I stated

"I never thought I'd be happy to be at work" JiU let out a relieved sigh "I swear that room got smaller every time I returned after leaving for even a minute!" She added

"I bet it did" I chuckled "are you gonna miss the hotel pillows?" I teased Daniel

"No need, I found out the brand... the first thing I'm going to order when I get the first pay check of this month" he said, punching the air with excitement

"Smart" I laughed

"What about you guys?" He asked "JiU's new and you've only just returned to work, do you two have any idea what you're using you wage on?" He asked

"Not going to lie Officer Kang, probably my bills" I said half-joking "and then I'm definitely buying a cocktail set." I said

"Upgrades on my bike" JiU replied

"Sounds good" Daniel chuckled

Bzzz* bzzzz*
"Sorry guys, you two go ahead... I have to get this." I said, the pair nodded and walked ahead, I answered the call as soon as the pair turned the corner

"Hello?" The person on the other end replied

"Hey, why'd you sound so confused? Jieun, you called me" I chuckled

"It's chaotic over here, I may have to work extra hours and that means I might not make it out of work on time for that thing you've got, is it important?" She asked "because I can easily just leave and beg for forgiveness later on" she said

"No- no it's fine, I'm sure someone else can take me" I said

"Are you sure? Where are you even heading?" She asked

"I'm sure, I was just heading to... a friend's place?" I replied

"A friends place?" She asked

"Yeah, a friend's place." I said

"Okay..." she still sounded suspicious of me, but she let it go "sorry about this" she said

"Not a problem, you okay? What's going on over there for it to be so chaotic?" I asked

"The chief of my unit has been murdered, so we're on a lockdown" she explained

"That happened here too, a couple days ago, but it was someone who was covering for our actual chief." I replied, leaning back on the wall

"Really?" She asked

"Really" I replied

"Do you think they're linked?" She asked

"Possibly, although I have a rough suspicion as to why it happened to the guy over here, any ideas about your coworker?" I asked

"Not yet, but I can look into it." She said

"You don't have to, it might not be important" I said

"How did you become a cop with a mindset like that?" She teased "as a police officer you should know that every little detail counts." She said

"Ah, right.... My apologies" I chuckled, playing along.

"Anyways, I've got to go, see ya soon!" She said

"See ya" I said and she hung up the phone, I put the phone away and caught up with the other two.

"Are one of you two, by any chance free to give me a lift after work?" I asked when I finally caught up to the pair

"No can do" Daniel smiled apologetically

"I'm free" JiU replied "why what do you need help with?" She asked
