Katsuki knows when Izuku is watching him. He can never see him, but he knows that the Damn Deku is there. And no, he is not crazy. He can't explain how he knows when Izuku is near him, but he does. He doesn't do anything about these feelings, he's too afraid that he'll scare Deku off. Katsuki doesn't know why he can't see him. Maybe it's because Izuku has gotten really good at hiding, or he disguises himself as someone else.
Bakugou doesn't take comfort in the fact that Izuku comes to see him. He's glad that the idiot is still alive, but why isn't he brave enough to say anything? It pisses him off, and once Katsuki finally gets to see him, he's going to give that damn Nerd one hell of a punch on the face. He feels like he's slowly losing everything. Even himself. Katsuki is so alone. It doesn't matter that the whole school looks up to him like some god, or that his quirk and body have grown incredibly strong. Katsuki's parents are amazing, this he knows, but it's not enough.
Maybe that's a selfish thing to say after everything he's ever received in his life. How lucky he's been. But his parents can't understand him no matter how hard they try, and that's okay, because parents aren't supposed to understand everything about their child. It just makes it difficult to talk to them about things where they can't see the reasoning to. They can't determine why he's so angry now, or why he's not happy.
Katsuki was at the dining table eating coconut curry when an argument broke out. It was his fault, really. He was the one that started the stupid conversation.
"I'll be in U.A. soon. I'll make sure to give Deku a greeting he'll always remember, then I'll drag him back here." He doesn't know what inspired him to say this, but it seemed important to say the words out loud. Maybe speaking them aloud will urge the hope of seeing Deku turn into a reality. He truly believed his parents would've backed him up.
His parents glanced at each other. His father looks as he always does- worried, and his mother develops a stern look on her face. Katsuki feels the familiar tick of anger at the back of his mind. It's a warning, he thinks. He should have never said that.
Katsuki was just about to excuse himself so he wouldn't inevitably explode at them, when the old hag decides to speak.
"You don't really think that, do you?" Mistsuki says, her voice stern, but not mean.
He narrows his eyes. Think what? What could she possibly be talking about? He knows, of course, but he refuses to admit it. Katsuki decides to deny that fact that's been lingering at the back of his mind for over a year now. That his parents have given up on his best friend.
"What?" He fights to keep his voice even. He doesn't want to yell at his parents. Not in a situation like this.
"Well," His dad says, "It's just that it's been a while. you know?"
He feels his grip slipping. Katsuki can handle this with the extras at school, but not his parents. Especially since they helped take care of him before he ran away. They are the only ones who have any semblance of understanding.
Katsuki's form his hands into fists The nails biting into his hand so furiously that they draw small specks of blood.
Mitsuki sighs and takes off from where his dad ended. Katsuki gives them one last look as a warning. Don't do this. Don't you dare.
"Don't you think it's time to move on? It's been years, and you still think he's coming back. Katsuki, you need to think that maybe he's not coming back. Face it, it's about time to give up."
Give up.
Katsuki doesn't know what that means. He doesn't give up. Not now, not ever. The fact that his own parents would say these words to him is like a punch in the face. With the addition of brass knuckles. Katsuki has never been truly mad at his parents. He has never felt the searing rage that burns so hot it almost seems cold. But he's feeling it now, and there's no way to stop it.
