" It's your turn to share ... " Vinny said after he recovers from his story, I looked at him and gave him a tight smile. " There's nothing interesting in my life, Vinny.... " I said and took a bite with the sushi.
" I'm not forcing you though. Nasa iyo parin naman yan kung gusto mo I share. I understand... " Vinny said and I started to play with my fingers. " Well... It's only me and my mama since the start, I've never met my father...." I said and stared at the sea. " Not even a glimpse of him ? " He asked and I shook my head.
" I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked .. " he apologized. I shook my head and gave him a smile. " It's okay. His probably happy wherever he is but I wish I can see him someday. And I wanna ask some questions why he left me and mama. "
" Minsan nga, Naririnig kung umiiyak si mama gabi-gabi, and I would often peak at her room for a reason and doon ko nakita na hawak niya frame ng papa ko as she weeps herself to sleep. " I said sadly.
" It must have been difficult for you... " He remarked, and I nodded. " Yeah.... But mom did her best, but there was still something missing, I just didn't show it to her na I needed a father figure. Mom's enough for me. She sacrificed her life to take care of me. "
" I didn't pursue my dream..... " I murmured, and he stared at me as if to ask, " Huh, why didn't you pursue your dream?"
" I was afraid, eversince my mom was hospitalized, it's just you know there are lots of negativity running through my mind na what if mawala nalang si mama na di ko man lang siya nasamahan dahil sa pagiging busy ko. So that's why I decided to help her instead sa restaurant namin na ikinabuhaydin niya sakin. " I said and let out a shaky breath.
" You must have enjoyed your childhood, despite the hardships you've faced and your mother who have done everything dor you to experienced this kind of life you have. " Vinny said. I nodded my head in reply.
" Yeah.... Can't believe we've come these far. From a small carinderia sa tapat lang ng kalsada now we have our very own place and restaurant..... " I said and looked at him, he was staring at me and I blushed.
" Amethyst.... I... " He began, and I waited with bated breath to see what he would say next. " Would... You... uhmm.." he stammered.
" Hmm ? "
" Would you allow me to court you ?? " He said and my breath hitched. " Nabigla ata kita. Sorry.. sorry haha. Don't mind nalang sa nasabi ko. I must have rushed you.. uhm magligpit na tayo. " He embarrassingly said and scratched his nape and started to closed the lids of the foods.
" Vinny... " I began, and he paused and glanced at me. " I have a question lang. " He nodded his head for me to continue.
" Have we met before? " I said, and he remained still for a moment before gently nodding his head.
" I'm that chubby bunny kid you met at the park when we were still kids.... And with our random encounters these past few weeks, I might have realized it when you shared a story with me there at the fountain sa restaurant niyo... " Vinny remarked, and I covered my lips in shakiness.
" I'm sorry if I didn't recognize you sooner, my bunny princess, and I'm also sorry for not coming back to our usual meet up sa park noon. " he added as I rushed him in a hug. He was taken off guard, but I could feel his chest vibrate as he laughed.
" Nakakainis ka talaga..... You didn't even say goodbye to me. I was so sad when you didn't go to our usual place. I have been waiting for you there everyday. " I sobbed in his chest. He patted my back.
" Stop crying, I'm here na nga eh, and I promise I won't leave without saying any goodbyes to you. " he added. " You came back with a cute mini plus one of you. " I said, and he chuckled.
" A mini plus one of mine that I cherished the most, and of course to the girl I once liked when I was a kid, will you let me court you my bunny princess Amethyst Gayle Cruz? " he asked, pulling away from the hug.
I flashed him a sly smile. " Hmmm..." I replied, and he glanced at me, puzzled.
" What ? Hmm lang ?? "
" I'll think about it though. " I said and stood up. " What ??? Amethyst naman give me a yes or no lang. " He whined like a child.
I brushed my clothing and smiled at him. " I'll answer your question if you can catch me. " I responded, and he smirked. " Oh.... You'll regret what you'll say, Amethyst; I'll definitely catch you; prepare yourself. " He stood up.
I began to flee, and he followed. We were sprinting along the beach, myself giggling and him laughing as he tried to catch up to me.
