Chapter Forty Four - Taking Back

Clark and I arrived at the gorge to see Eric standing where he was days ago when all of this happened. Standing on the other side of the railing this time with his arms out staring up at the sky. We skidded to a stop.

"Eric!" We yelled "Eric!" he turned his head to us a sinister smile on his lips

"Eric don't!" I screamed "Give me the necklace." He handed me the led line box just as Eric fell forward. Clark held onto me and used his speed to take me down to the bottom. WE got to the railed off air that was protecting a god porting of the towns electric.

"Eric!" I yelled again trying to see him.

"You should have let me go the first time, Mia." I turned around to face Eric "It would have been better than living like this." I rest my hand on Clarks chest and gave him a look that he should leave this to me. 

"Eric, why did you jump?" I question etching closer

"I was testing myself to see if I had any limits. Apparently, I don't." he answered as the wind around us began to pick up.

"Eric, you can adjust to these abilities. It just takes time, with that time you can not only control your ablates but help people with them." I call over

"How would you know?"

"It's super abilities 101, Eric. I've seen you reading comic books, it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt. Time is a friend to those with abilities." i answer

"Oh, so in time, my parents won't be scared of me. The girl of my dreams might actually chose me. The cops won't be after me." he approched me and came to a stop

"First of all you do deserve better parents. Second, i like you and I think you're cool but not in that way. Life is like that, life also requires balance, every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction. You almost killed your parents, you almost killed me. Of course the police are after you. That is their job, I know you know that because i can also figure out you'd wish the come sooner, for your Dad. Let me help, Eric." I plead dropping the box and holding the necklace

"I don't want you're help" He grabbed my by the jacket and threw me through the metal gates to the electrical grid.

"Eric!" I heard Clark yell as i groan

"Clark, no!" I coughed knowing he could hear me "This is my fight." I turned trying to get to the necklace but it wasn't with the box. Crap.

"Treat me like an criminal. I'll give them something to be scared about." I scrambled to my feet looking around

"That's not the answer."

"Come on Mia." he sped extremely personal space close and pulled me in by the waist. If you had the power to do anything you want, what would you do?"

"Stop people like you."

"Nothing on this earth can stop me." he pushed me back and I hit a metal wall dropping to the floor. I huff out a breath and thats when I notice it. The small green rock. Meteor which started this whole thing. It took my powers away and if the past few days were anything to show. That was a bad thing. That was the moment I realised that I could never really be normal. it was a wish, a fantasy and nice break from reality but, those powers I had come to hate and wish away never belonged with anyone other than me and Clark.

"You're wrong." I grabbed the necklace and stood up wrapping the necklace around my wrist

"We'll see about that." Eric broke off an electrical wire. I glance at a worried Clark and got back up to my feet then ran over to Eric and grabbed his wrist. The changing moment was created and a green light emerged between us. Until we both fell to the floor . I groaned as I felt pain in my hand and lifting up to see that everything was back to my kind of my normal and that meteor rock was toxic once more. I trapped it back in the box and shuffled over to Eric.

"Mia are you okay?" Clark ran over and I glanced up

"Better than ever." I answer and look down at Eric.

"I'm cold." He groaned "So cold." I tapped his shoulder and then moved him so I could check him over. Clark called the police and ambulance and the quickly came taking Eric away. Dad came to us as well as we watched Eric being loaded up into the ambulance.

"What do you think is going to happen to them now?" I wondered as we walked away

"not sure." he answered wrapping an arm around me "Hey. They had problems long before he had your abilities. How are you feeling." I pulled away and started to walk backwards

"Normal, for me." I shrug

"Mia. Your gifts are, well they're apart of you, but they don't define you." I smiled a little stopping

"Dad I know. We have spent a good amount of our lives wishing we were normal, human normal, not having to keep this secret. Because in all honesty they complicate all of our lives. But I also learnt that being human comes with it's own complications and for me personally, I have been putting that kind of life on a pedestal. Seeing how destructive Eric got reminded me of the strength the two of us have. It also reminded me that while he did get super powers he didn't get everything I had."

"Which is?" Clark wondered

"Mom, Dad and you." I grin "Mom and Dad are our strongest gifts."

"Let's go."

I waited outside the Fordman's store leaning against Whitney's truck as closed up for the night and turned around seeing me. He messed with his keys and glanced down.

"I thought it was time for me to sneak up on you. The shoe on the other foot for once." I chuckle then push myself off "We're in need of a chat."

"About the kiss, I figured it was coming." he replied coming over to meet me in the middle and we stood there in silence for a moment.

"I liked it when you...kissed me." I admitted slowly "I also like how you prove me wrong in the best ways, how you've managed to both accept and alter my cool exterior." he smiled a little

"But I wouldn't be me if I wasn't blunt with the truth. I'm not Lana, dainty and perfect. I keep secrets as well give you the honest truth. I will always be there but I will follow my own dreams as well. if that kiss was just a kiss then okay, if it was something more that's okay as well but i will not be a rebound or second best I...." he cut me off kissing me again. I rested my hand against his cheek.
