The next day it was a little different, word had gotten around about Clark saving Lex Luthor and he was getting a lot of attention for it. When we got home there was a brand new truck sitting outside of the barn. it was bright red with four roof lights and a big blue bow on the hood.
"Hey, Mom, who's truck?" Clark wondered as she got onto the tractor.
"Yours." she answered it's a gift from Lex Luthor." she handed him a card and he opened it.
"Dear Clark, drive safely. Alway in your debt, the maniac in the prorche. I don't believe it. Where are the keys? Clark wondered
"With your Dad." We turned to where the woodchopper was blaring loudly. This wasn't going to be great. Dad was tough on us, very cautious man. Even more so with our abilities. As much as we loved him, nothing was ever easy. Dad turned off the wood chipper and removed his glasses and ear defenders.
"I know how much you want it, son, but you can't keep it." Dad told him, walking past us
"Why not? I saved his life." Clark replied
"So you deserve prize?" Dad questioned
"That's not what I meant." we turned round and walked over, following him "How about you drive it and I'll use the old one. Everybody wins." Clark negotiated
"It's not about winning, Clark." I could tell Dad wanted to say more but he stopped himself, now with hammer and nails we went to fix the stair case that a part had been wobbling for a while.
"It's not like the Luthors can't afford it."
"Do you know why that is? Do you remember Mr.Bell? We'd fish on his property. How about Mr Gy? He sent us pumpkins on Halloween. Lionel Luthor promised to cut them in on a deal. He sent them flashy gifts" dad held up the keys "Only when they sold to him, he went back on his word, he evicted them."
"So your judging Lex on what his father did?" Clark questioned. I shook my head in disbelief .
"No, Clark I'm not. i just wanna make sure you know where that money came from the bought that truck." He walked away and Clark went to head upstairs. "Clark, I know you're upset, son, but it's normal." Clark threw his things on the stairs and stormed back down.
"Normal?" Clark turned on the wood chipper but then shoved his hand inside.
"Clark!" we yelled running over to pull his hand out. We did and shut the machine off.
"I didn't dive in after Lex's car. It hit me at 60 mph. Does that sound normal to you? I'd give anything to be normal. We both would." Clark glanced at me then headed upstairs.
"Well. Well done Dad, you've done it now. Congratulations." I went to leave.
"Mia, stop." I sighed doing so and turning around "Come with me." He headed upstairs and I followed he motioned me to go to my brother and i did sitting beside him. Dad pulled something out.
"Well it's time you two." he declared
"For what?" Clark mumbled
"The truth." I scowled in his direction, what did that even mean? The truth? He came and sat with us "I want you to take a look at something. he unwrapped something that looks flies a small slab of metal with weird carvings on it.
"I think it's from your parents. Your real parents." I took it and we both stare at it
"What's it suppose to say?" I ask examining it. It didn't seem to be any known metal on the surface, though I would have to test it to confirm. The symbols were just that, symbols.
"I tried to decipher it for years, but it's not a language know to man." that made no sense either.
"What do you mean?" Clark wondered
"Well, your real parents weren't exactly from around here." we glanced at him
"So, where are they from?" I inquire. Dad didn't answer just looked up out of the window, to the sky. I scoffed "Really. Are you trying to tell us that were from another planet? That's ludicrous." he turned back to us with a look.
"next thing you're gonna tell us is that you stashed our ship in the attic." Clark joked
"Actually it's in the storm cellar. Come on." he stood and went to walk downstairs. I shared a glance with Clark and then followed him. We headed to the storm cellar and at the back that was never used. Dad pulled of a tarp. It had been years since we had that bad of a storm. We never really came down here so it wasn't like it was noticed/
"This is how the two of you came into our world. It was the day of the meteor shower." he explained
"This has got to be a joke." I denied stepping back then running out and into the house and up to my room. This couldn't be real.
"Mia, honey." Mom knocked on the door then opened up
"Am i freak? Like a actual freak not just a mean word trying to hurt me?" I began crying. she came over as i dropped to my knees
"honey, you are not a freak." she tried to assure me
"But Dad more or less said that Clark and I came here in a spaceship. During the meteor shower. Why, why didn't you tell us?" I shook my head not being able to comprehend
"We wanted to protect you."
"How is not telling us that there is a reason we're different? That you're almost certain were aliens. It's bad enough feeling like one as a human but were not. We are literally... I can't" I shrug her off and speed out of the house
