Chapter Forty - Oncoming Storm

We were on a trip into the woods searching for different samples of rocks. It was the most boring trip I have ever gone on. i could think of about 10 different things I could be doing right about now. We had all be put into partners to collect the geological samples, for this I had Eric Summers. As far as partners go I kind of hit the jackpot since this was his kind of thing.

"Okay people, you've got fifteen minutes. Storm's on it's way and I want to be on the road before it hits." Mr Summers declared . Yeah his son was my partner for this project, see what I mean.

"I'm gonna look over here." I tell Eric.

"Are you sure? We've been working well together so far?" he rushed out and I chuckled

"Yeah, with the 15 minute timer we have, the last few samples are probably better found separate. Let's take a look at the list again." he held it out eagerly. I went to take it from him then glanced it over. "Got it." i handed it back and used my X-ray vision to speed things up. I put them in my bag.

"Mia, I found the mentor rock, look." i turned sharply only for the close presence of meteor rock to take effect and in that split moment i fell backwards with a squeal. But I was caught by a pair of arms.

"Easy, I got you." Whitney breathed and helped me back onto two feet "Oi geo nerd, watch was you're doing? Sneaking up on peoples gonna get someone hurt. You okay?" he asked me as I shuffled away from the meteor rock.

"Fine. I'm fine." I breathe

"Back off..." we saw Mr Summers coming over "Here comes Daddy." he guided me away leaving the Summers, After ten minutes we got on the bus.

"You know half this stuff could be made into jewellery. Not that I'm that vain but It's kind of cool seeing it without a setting or a chain." I comment to the blonde

"Rose quarts is a girls best friend." i started laughing when mr Summers got on the bus

"Has anyone seen Eric? Apparently he's gotten himself lost." Mr Summer sighed annoyed with his son.

"I'll find him." I stand up "We are partners after all." I got off the bus and walked away once they could see me I used my speed to look around. I found him at the gorge standing on the edge leaning against the railing with his arms out.

"Crap." I sped up and over to him "Eric! Eric!" I shouted over the oncoming storm. I went to get closer but stopped short. He was holding the meteor rock in his hand. He finally noticed me

"Eric the...." I was cut off my a lightning strike. Eric started wobbling and I ran over grabbing the strap of his bag. i screamed out as lightning struck again only this time it hit me. Though I managed to pull him up enough to climb over. I stumbled back and dropped into darkness.

-3rd Person-

Mia and Eric hadn't come back and now everyone was getting worried. Clark and Whitney kept looking out of the window waiting to see the two.

"She should be back, by now." Whitney muttered from behind Clark and Pete.

"Help! I need help!" Everyone piled off the bus and made a crowd. They saw a whacked out Eric, helping a semi conscious Mia. Clark and Whitney ran over

"What happened?" Clark questioned

"We got struck by lightning, She saved me from falling into the gorge." The two boys took the brunt girl as Pete, Lana and Chloe helped Eric.

"Mia, Mia can you hear me" Whitney called lifting her head up.

"Hummm." she replied her eyes dropping. Mr Summers was forced to call an ambulance and the two were checked over. Mia coming around a little more refused to be taken to hospital and all she wanted was to go home.
