Chapter Fifty Five - Home Truths

Ryan stayed at home the next day while Clark and i went to school and then i went to work followed by Whitney and I going back to mine to study in the living room. When Whitney needed to use the bathroom Ryan came over and sat down next to me.

"Hey, you doing okay?" i smile

"Whitney's in love with you." he stated as if it were a matter of fact "He thinks your the best girls he's ever dated and he was really worried when he heard you'd been in another accident." I turn to him

"And where have you been getting that from? Has he said something to you, when i haven't been around?" I wonder

"No. I just know. I also know that he liked the signed sharks picture you got him yesterday." He wondered off just as Whitney came back. The two of us finished and he went to do the last shift at the store while i went to find Clark and Ryan. I stop seeing the storm celler doors open. Oh crap. I ran down and saw both of them in front of our ship

"What the hell is going on? Did you let him down here?" I question my brother

"I didn't. Tell her, Ryan." he gestured to me and Ryan sighed

"I can...read minds. Well I can read what's on the surface of people thinking, except for you and Clark. Mainly Clark I can't read fully, you're the same as him but there something different, I just haven't figured it out yet. Anyway That's how I knew the two of you were different." he admitted "Now I know why. I've already promised that I won't tell..." Personally I was both in shock and accepting. it kind of made sense when you put the pieces together.

"Okay, that is a lot to take in. I... have a lot of questions, so many question but i'm gonna start with the most important one. Are you running from someone? If So who?" Tears began to usher in his eyes

"My step father and his new wife. They've been using me. my abilities, to steal. I wanted to stop but they threatened me. They hit me. You two have to protect me. you're the only ones who can." He admitted and I wrapped my arms around him.

Clark and I needed to make a quick trip to town and when we came back Dad was outside leaning against the tractor, staring up at the sky. I could tell something was wrong

"Dad, what's wrong?" I question

"Child serves came and took Ryan away about 15 minutes ago." he told us

"What? Why didn't he wait for us we wanted to say goodbye." Clark voiced our thoughts. That upset me, I can't believe I missed him.

"I don't know. they said they were in a hurry. i'm sorry." he apologised to us and I let out a breath. He went inside and we heard a car pulling up. Well it was a limo.

"Deep joy. I'm going inside." I huffed out knowing it was lex.

I was starting at the picture of the me, Ryan and clark that Chloe had given me earlier. it sucked that i didn't get to say goodbye. I was getting used to the little squirt. Knowing I was hungry I went downstairs to grab something to eat. That's when clark busted in, just as I was about to eat a apple.

"Lex is in trouble. His limo driver was Ryan's step-dad. Let's go!" I dropped the apple and grabbed my coat running out with him. We used our speed and caught up with Lex who was lying on the side of the road.

"Lex! Are you okay?" Clark called crouching down beside him as he held onto his arm

"Here" I took his arm and x-rayed it "Just a sprain nothing broken. Which way did they go?" I question
