There were very few occasions that Clark and i dropped everything to spend time with each other. Our 'Birthday' eve and our 'arrival' day were two such days. The two of us headed to the ice rink. We got our skates on and went out onto the ice. the two of us were laughing and skating around with other people who came to the rink. For a moment in time there were no arguments or problems.
"Clark!" I skidded to a stop and closed my eyes, Please let this just be turning into a bad dream.
"Lana! I'm glad you could make it." I turn around and watch Lana skate over towards us. She came to a stop with a broad smile.
"Thanks for inviting me, Hi Mia." she gave a small wave and I look between her and my brother. I was trying to find the words so I didn't get arrested for assault due to the rising temper i was currently feeling.
"What...what's this?" I stutter out
"Well I was talking with Lana the other day about us coming to the ice rink today and she mentioned how much she liked it so I invited her." he explained. I took a deep breath. Mom tried to encourage me to voice out my frustrations instead of just going straight into a temper tantrum. So I was taking her advice.
"Today, like today, today on our birthday eve? That we have just ourselves, a tradition we've done for years. You invited her to today of all days." I tried to convey my frustrations calmly while I clenched and unclenched my fists.
"Clark didn't mention it was a tradition. If I had known..."
"I assume you still would have come because you're lonely since you got dumped." I smiled away my frustration "Cause of course nothing's your fault."
"Well, I wouldn't say it's a tradition, it's just something we do. it's not a big deal." he dismissed it and it was at that point I decided to continue taking Moms advice and walk or in this case skate away. I went off the rink and took my phone out. staring at it, who do I call to talk and not feel like a idiot? Clark problems who was really good at Clark problems....of course. I scrolled down my contacts and hit the call button leaving the seating area and going into a corridor.
"Hello?"
"Chloe." I sniffle then take a breath "Are you busy?" I ask with staggered breaths, I don't know why this bothered me so much but I needed someone who understood Clark problems.
"What's the matter? Aren't you supposed to be with Clark?" she wondered
"I was, we were skating and then Lana came." I explained "He invited her and completely dismissed the fact that I was upset he picked today of all days. I needed someone who understands and you were the first person I thought of." I furiously wiped away my tears then went into the bathroom.
"Oh, Mia." she sighed
"Chloe, I'm hiding out in the bathroom." I squeaked "I don't know what to do, please help me me. Do I just leave? Do I stay? I'm trying not to fall into normal habits, not today."
"Okay, wash your face have something to drink and calm down. Back up is on the way. Trust me." she hung up and I did as I was told. I washed my face as well as tightening my pony tail then grabbed asme water and sat down, watching as Clark laughed and smiled with Lana. I took a deep breath and just sat there. I was waiting half a hour and there was still no sign of Chloe.
"Someone called for back up?" My head snapped around to see Whitney. I stood up shocked.
"Aren't you supposed to be with your Dad? Why are you here?" I wondered but I couldn't help but smile a little.
"Chloe Sullivan is persistent. She got my number and explained as much as she could." he was prepared and already had skates on. He glanced to the rink and so did I as we were looking at Clark and Lana. "Well come on almost birthday girl." he took my hand and lead me back onto the rink.
