Clark and i had got the call from Mr Sullivan that Chloe was finally awake. The two of us raced down to the hospital and Clark got some flowers before we went up to her room. We stood outside of her door and she realised we were there.
"Hey." she greeted us
"You dad called, told us that you were awake." Clark stated and then I walked in first taking her side.
"You two are officially my first visitors." she smiled weakly. I pulled up a chair and sat down next to her.
"How are you feeling?" I question
"Like million bucks, thrown in the washing machine and set on spin." she answered and i moved my fingers "Theres no need to check me over Doctor Kent, the others already did that." Clark came in and joined my side.
"Sorry force of habit."
"Everyone was real worried about you." Clark told her
"Yeah, I noticed. Looks like bells flower shop's been stripped clean. I especially like the ones from Lex. They make me feel like I won the Kentucky derby." she joked. I shook my head at her attempt of amusement. Clark handed over the flowers "They're beautiful, Clark. They're my favourite."
"Oh he knows. Was very specific about them, weren't you Clark." I smirk up at him
"Shut up, Mia." He grumbled knocking me with his arm. "Make yourself useful and go get something to drink."
"Bite me you misogynist ." I stood up "I'm not a tea lady. However I will leave so you can say you realise what a idiot you are and profess your love, not wait wrong person. Apologise profusely. i'll be right back okay?" Chloe nodded and I walked out. I got some coffee from the cafe and head back up to see Chloe only Clark wasn't there.
"Where's my brother?" I wondered seeing the cups down
"He went to run some errands, told me you would stay here and play Doctor" she chuckled, which made me smile. I laughed a little and sat back down talking with her, the two of us were laughing and joking when my phone started to ring. "Go on take, I don't mind."
"Hey, Whitney." I answer
"Mia, will you tell your bozo brother to back off." he grumbled at me, causing me to scowl in confusion. Since when did he see my brother other than yesterday.
"You mean yesterday? He was just picking up a microwave, relax. Why are you in a worse mood than normal? Has something happened since we last talked?" I inquire
"What is this 21 questions? I was blowing off some steam with the guys. Then out of no where your brother's in my business asking me questions. He's your brother, deal with him." he hung up and i pulled the phone away from my ear in a little shock.
"Everything okay?" Chloe wondered
"I don't know." I stood up "I have to go, but I will be back later. Get some rest. okay." she nodded and i headed out of the hospital room and rode back home. I found Clark in the loft at his desk
"What's going on between you and Whitney. He called just to bite my head off about you bugging him. What did I miss?" i question sitting down next to him
"Did he say anything else?" he wondered
"Only that he was with the guys blowing off some steam. That and to deal with you, tell you to back off. Clark tell me what's going on, I'm worried now. With this and losing his scholarship. it feels like this relationship is ending before its even started." Clark rubbed my shoulder and then grabbed a book
"I've been raiding year books. I think these are Whitney's new friends." Clark handed it to me and pointed to two faces. I looked at the year 1996
"Wade Mahaney and Scott Bowman Class of '96. Who are they?" I glance up at him.
"They were Whitney, six years ago. All start athletes, lettered in football, baseball, basketball. They ruled the school." he explained but I still wasn't getting it.
"So what happened?"
"Well, I did some checking and according to the Ledger. Wade got injured and Scott got caught up in drugs." I let out a long breath putting it together.
"Bright futures vanishing. Do you think Whitney's in trouble?"
"I don't know. I tried to talk to him but he wouldn't listen to me. He just made it personal, which I get." I handed him the yearbook back
"No surprise there. He thinks the scholarship was his only way out of here. I wish he'd see himself the way he made me. There's more to him that football, he made me realise that." I went to sit on the couch.
"He's lucky to have you, sis."
"Cause I'm such a great influence. Maybe he was better with Lana." I grumble. He made me turn to him.
"Don't ever say that."
"Only because if he was still with Lana you still wouldn't have a chance. He's a good guy, Clark just a little hot head and sometimes he acts before he thinks but apart from that he's not what I thought he was. We need to help him." I was insistent.
"We will. I promise." he pulled me into a hug
