I arrived back home later on to parents full of questions, where should I start and how in depth do I go. I settled for asking something easy first.
"Is Clark here?" I wondered
"No, he's still out, what does that matter?" Dad answered confused as I grabbed a drink from the fridge then sat down at the table.
"Because, i don't want him hearing so he can go blabbing." I sigh "Mr Fordman is in the hospital, he had a heart attack."
"Oh my gosh, is he okay?" mom wondered
"How did you know he had a heart attack?" Dad questioned
"Whitney asked me for help. His Dad had been unwell for the past few days but refused to see anyone. He made a deal if he could get someone who wasn't a doctor but could help, he would let him. Whitney got me and i checked him over, if he didn't have a heart attack days ago he was gonna and he did. Started right then and there. He stopped breathing so I had to do CPR. This does not get to Clark." I explained and they were stunned "I haven't heard anything since."
"Poor boy. To be going through that." mom breathed
------
Clark came home and as promised they didn't bring up Mr Fordman. The two of us were doing school work when Mom picked up a leaflet.
"What's this?" she wondered
"Blood drive at school. Lana's running it." Clark answered
"Clark, you know you can't donate." Dad stated while doing the drying up. I didn't say anything because it would probably only lead to an argument.
"I know Dad. But what am I supposed to tell her?" he asked
"That you have a problem with needles which you technically do." Mom offered
"Great not only do i lie but I look like a wuss." he grumbles and complains. I stand up and grab the phone with a sigh "Mia, what are you doing?"
"Lying for you." I ring Lana and she answers "Lana, it's Mia."
"Mia, what can i do for you?"
"Well I found the donation leaflet on the kitchen counter and I was just checking if Clark told you?" I turned to the other who stared with intrigued
"Tell me what?" she wondered and I smirked
"Clark didn't tell you that the two of us have a rare blood disorder?" I feign shock and I see my parents smile and glance at each other "I thought he would have told you. Only few documented cases. but it prevents us from giving blood, well except to each other of course. Are you sure he didn't mention it? It doesn't sound like Clark."
"No..no, he didn't but thanks for telling me."
"I hope I haven't dropped him in it. But I figured since you two have gotten close and your doing this thing...oh well bye." I hung up and put the phone away.
"When did you get so good at lying?" Dad wondered
"Self -preservation most of the time include, Clark. There you didn't lie, I did. You're welcome. I'm gonna get my history textbook." I saunter off
--------
School went by and there was still no word from Whitney. Nothing unusual happened which was a relief. Then back in school again I finally found him and made my way over.
"Hey are you okay?" I ask he looks around
"Not here, later?" I nod in understanding." I'll find you later on." he promised
"Sure." we separate off and carry on with the rest of our day. I went to work after school and had just finished serving a customer when Whitney arrived. i took my break and made us a drink and sat down. "How's your Dad?"
"He's back home, they've given him some medication for what they diagnosed." he told me "I wanted to thank you..for what you did. I know I ambushed you" I took a hold of his hand
"Given the circumstances, I let you off. Just this once." he chuckled slightly and ran his thumb across my knuckles. His gaze drifted off into space "What are you thinking?" I wondered
"Nothing." she shook his head as if to get rid of the daze "Nothing." he repeated letting go of my hand and then stood up.
"Okay, well let me know when your ready to get back to work. I won't bug you with everything that's going on at the moment. i better get back." he nodded and I went back to the counter.
"Bye Mia." he gave a small wave
"See ya."
-------
The next day at school, Clark was showing me and Chloe a shard of mirror with blood on it. Apparently when he went to go see Lex again to tell him something about his latest squeeze Victoria. Said Victoria was found my him almost dropped in the bathtub and then to add to it he was thrown against a mirror. Whoever attacked them was invisible and only left this behind.
"It's defiantly blood." Clark stated
"Well done, genius." I commented rolling my eyes
"doesn't exactly fit the Casper paradigm. Which means whoever attacked you and Victoria in the bathroom was invisible?" she questioned the last part. Clark moved away to get better light while Chloe examined the other shard.
"This green stuff, smells like roses. Mia." she held up her thumb and forefingers and I went to smelt it but when I did part of her fingers weren't there "Err, Clark." he came over and I took her wrist.
"Interesting." I muttered
"What happened?" Clark questioned
"I just touched it." she was stunned as she stared at her fingers "Okay, I'm now officially weirded out. What is this?" she questioned
"I don't know. But if you rubbed that all over your body, you'd be..."
"Naked?" Chloe cut Clark off
"Invisible." I let go and give her a tissue, she rubbed it off her fingers and they returned to normal.
