Chapter Sixty One - Edgy

Mom, Whitney and I were at my ultrasound appointment. I laid back and was asked to expose my belly, the technician gelled and then rolled the thing on my stomach. Whitney's finger tapped nervously on the handle of the chair.

"Will you stop? I'm already nervous as it is." I snip and he moves his hand

"Sorry." I glance at Mom who gives me a pointed look

"There they are." the technician stated and turned the screen around "There's your baby." she pointed to where there was a little blob on the screen

"And your baby's heartbeat." we heard the light small thumping. Everything became surreal, like.

"Whoa." Whitney and I breathed and my head tilted

"Weird." I added and blinked slowly "Is it healthy, nothing irregular or abnormal?" i question and she looked little take back

"My daughter is a Doctor in the making." Mom smiled "she has the book smarts and certificates for first aid. All she needs is the degree." The technician nodded

"I see nothing but the doctor will explain it with you when you see her." She printed pictures off and we waited to see the doctor. It was a quick chat about what I should be doing, about the scan things like that. Though you could see the judgment that she was talking to a 15 year old. That irked me.

"Can you not do that." I stated to Dr Stane

"I beg your pardon?"

"Judge me, the stare and thought you think your hiding, it's obvious. You think I'm stupid, reckless maybe even far as a slut. I'm not...."

"Mia, take it easy." Mom tried

"No. She's not here to judge me, she's here to make sure my pregnancy goes well and that I deliver without complications. Just because she's a ridged bitch doesn't mean she should take it out on me." Oh...Oh no I went to far with that "I could out think her and degree her just on principle at 15."

"Okay, let's go. Thank you." Whitney ended the conversation and we got up leaving "Mia, what the hell."

"I don't know what happened. Seriously it's like every thought I had, insecurity just made me blow up." I say "I couldn't help myself." The two decide to drop it and we're taken to school. Today was career day, personally I thought it was pointless. I knew what I wanted to do but others didn't. Others like my brother, Whitney, Pete. Chloe and I were pretty much set. However I got the feeling that I walked in on something.

"Hey, everything okay?" I ask cautiously

"Fine, Chloe is just over reacting." Clark sighed.

"Something tells me, that's doubtful. You think if anyone is not as chill as you it's a over reaction." I sass him

"How would you know, you just got here." he grumbled

"Because your my brother and you're an idiot. Let's go Chloe." I loop my arm through hers and guide her away into the halls.

"Thanks for that." she gave me a grateful smile

"What brought on the argument this time?" I wonder as she went to her locker, she opened it up with a huff.

"We started ff with me trying to get a summer internship at the daily planet, which led to talking about the inquisitor and then the trip that Clark and i were supposed to have to the Student Journalism Conference."

"Oh that!" I exclaim "I did that, the other week."

"You did?"

"Yeah, Clark was talking about it when we were in the Talon and then Lana came over and he started talking to her. I got bored and did it for him, I seem to having these burst of boredom or where I just want to be bitchy so instead I do something useful. Haven't you got the e-mail, I thought I did it in your name."

"No I haven't."

"You know I might have done it in my name, can I use your computer to check?" she nodded and I went to the torch office. I found the e-mail and printed it out.

"My lady and saviour in the form of Mia Kent." I turn around to see Justin with Chloe

"Justin, you're back?" I laugh slightly and get up. Justin was a classmate that was involved in a hit and run. Dad and I happened to be driving past when we came on the scene.

"Yeah, just got in last night." The two of us hugged. I gave hm the once over

"How are your hands?" I remember they were pretty beat up that when he came round just as Dad was on the phone to emergency derives he was in so much pain. He lifted them up

"Not worth much. Look, Mia I wanted to say thank you for getting me out, and you know keeping me safe while the paramedics got there."

"It's nothing, I'm just glad that you're okay." He gave a grateful smile "Well, I promised Whitney that I would walk around the booths with him. But we'll catch up another time all right? Chloe, the confirmation should be printed out by now."

"You got it." Tyler cave a nervous smile

"I will see the two of you later." I gave them a small wave and head back into the cafeteria and found him.

"Clark!" I yelled jogging downstairs "Have you seen my ultrasound pictures? I can't..." I stop seeing Lana there

"Never mind." I turn to head back upstairs

"You had a ultrasound yesterday?" Lana asked "exciting."

"Yeah." I saw them on the kitchen counter "Ah there they are." I head over and grab them

"Can I see?" lana wondered and I thought for a moment before handing one over. It was weird, it got really weird that my boyfriends ex was here and that she clearly had feeling for my brother as well. The universe twisted humour. "Wow. You see things like this in tv-shows or films but to see one in person. Whitney seems happy." she handed back

"Yeah...he cried. The heartbeat got him." i replied "I'm just gonna take these upstairs." i headed back up.
